1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham Cold Start
This is a cold start of my 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham. At the time of this video, it hadn't been started in one month. It has the very rare factory 455 V8 engine.
My 1976 Cutlass Supreme Brougham (Please Rate)
This is my 1976 ALL original Cutlass Supreme Brougham. I bought the car with only 83,000 original miles on it in 2007. it currently only has 83,500 miles now. Everything you see on the car is original. The only thing I did under the hood was have the original air box powder coated. Interior, hubcaps, radio, dash, steering wheel, paint, etc... Is all original. Thanks for watching!
1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham Coupe Burn Out Attempt
1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham Coupe - The Gutless Cutlass
This tired old girl was a top of the line cruiser back in 1977, when she was all fresh and clean. We managed to get the tires to spin but this is is no massive tire ripper. Back in the late 70's cars were still heavy tanks but the engines had been so badly de-tuned, for gas savings (remember the "Oil Crisis"?) and for higher emissions standards, that this last of the "Third Generation" Cutlass was always a bit of a 5000 lb weakling. This car is mostly intact but not really a "survivor". It has far too much rust. But it is the last of its kind (good or bad).
In 1978 the newer, lighter body style was released. That was the one they used for the W30s that are nearly as collectible as older classic cars from the late 60s and early 70s. This body style was introduced in 1973, and it had had more power it might be more collectible today.
We have since sold the Cutlass, and with any luck it might survive to be restored, but I would not hold my breath. That means that videos like this might be all that remain of the these beasts. It's too bad too. With a larger more powerful engine, like a 455 or even just a Chev 350 with a Holley and some headers, this would make a nice "Banker's Hotrod". With some suspension upgrades and some attempts to lighten the body, this could be an original looking Resto-mod that could do some track work.
Or maybe it will go out with a bang in some demolition derby!! It's a Love-Hate thang...and kinda sexy...

Nothing beats the satisfaction of chasing down and pulling old cars from their resting spots. There is a thrill in the hunt, and a joy in discovering a car that nobody else knows about. These are the cars that have been parked for whatever unknown reason ; a blown tranny, discarded in disgust, set aside for later. Many cars are sentenced to a particular spot with no release date in mind. They all have a story to tell, and one has to wonder who fell in love with the vehicle first and plunked down all their hard earned cash on the beast.
Cracking open the door is like entering a ancient tomb, with the rusty hinges announcing your arrival. Every old car has it's own unique smell, some brands even possesing their own odors.
Pop the hood next. Engine bays come in 3 types, complete, empty, and partially disassembled. A complete bay is the ultimate goal, for that means there is a small chance that the car might still run. An empty bay puts the car towards parts-car status, or full swap/update for sure. A half complete mill is the worst situation possible. One must play detective and figure out what went wrong and where all the missing parts currently reside.
Pop the trunk, and it's time to go treasure hunting. The trunk can hold anything from missing parts and nos trim, to possums and many other shocking items forgotten over time.
The adventures of moving a car that has not moved in decades is immediately present. Brakes stick, bearings freeze, tires are square and downright ignorant, and every immobile wreck instantly gains 1 ton over its still-mobile twin. Might be the 1800 pounds of old concrete in the trunk, the one the owner conveniently "lost" the keys for. Many times there is things in the way that were not present when the car was parked 45 years ago.
Naturally, not all these cars go into the garage and come out show queens. Some get fixed, few get finished, and most get slated for parts service. The ones that do not meet one persons standards get pawned off on fresh hunters with less money and more ambition. Maybe the car will help out to get another twin out of the weeds also and back on the road. But one thing is for certain, once the derelict wreck is loaded, the standard question always asked is "Do you know of any more old cars around here?"
