Changing over from stock manifolds to Stainless Steel manifolds.
I was in the middle of a repower of an I/O Mercruiser when someone came in and wanted to trade this set of manifolds for a stock set! Done deal, he walked out with a black cast set and left these, happy day for both of us. Since then I have found out what he probably knew all along. POOF- no longer would I have power steering since there was now something in the way where the pump would mount- No biggie as I convinced myself I really did not need power steering. So what happened to where I mounted the shifter junction? 1/2 day later had a custom bracket. Move my wiring harness bracket-I can do that, how about the Mercathode and circuit breaker-they will have to also move, too many hoses to manifold- custom block off plate- oops- hoses to go from thermostat housing to Exhaust figure how to build and route new ones, what about that water separator that used to go right there- well, the spot it used to be is no longer vacant, move it somewhere else-different fuel lines- OH NO- oil dip stick- same story- how about those studs to hole it on to the block?? Well that a no go- pull them out and re-tap for header bolts- What next?? inner shift cable, linkage, Exhaust system in boat- all for what- to put on manifolds that probably no one will ever see buried in the motor compartment. If anyone else has ever done this, please tell me these manifolds really will make a difference in hp.
Why all the dislikes?? Just letting you know the issues with this Exhaust. In any case it was probably worth it. Check out the video response for the end result.
