Cadwell park HSCC Hillman Imps VS Minis
The up to 1300cc race at Cadwell Park, Because of the up to 1300cc rule it
was virtually an Imp VS Mini race. Simon Benoy took a very deserving win
after the restart.
Unfortunatly on the restart David Heale's gearbox broke due to no fault of
his own, full race Imps are hard to get off the line because they are rear
engined and rear wheel drive, they don't get the wheel spin like some of
the other cars, that coupled with having a full race cam means alot of revs
are required to get the car moving. Plus a race clutch makes slipping the
Ben Graham prepared Suzuki powered Imp
Hillman Imp fitted with a Suzuki 1.3 liter engine which is in it's present
state of tune a far different engine to when it was stock a few months ago.
Weber carbs Isky cam and a few other goodies should surely make this a very
interesting circuit car.
Sunbeam Imp Historic Racer Debut/shakedown
First test of our new GP 2 FIA Sunbeam Imp Sport. This car is a replica of
the famous George Bevan / Bill McGovern BTCC-winning Imp of the 70s. The
track is Rudskogen, the race is a round in the Norwegian Championship for
Historic Racing incorporating classes from 1961-76, from a 1000cc Opel
Kadett to a 76 Broadspeed Capri. The gearbox is a spare, with totally wrong
ratios, so it wasn't exactly a bullet out of some of the corners - but will
be remedied for the next race.
Hillman Imp with FJ1200 Engine
1963 Hillman Imp that my father has built in his shed over the last 2 1/2
years. A Yamaha FJ1200 engine has been fitted in the left rear of the cabin
driving onto a short tailshaft to a modified Skyline Diff. The footage is
of the first race entered on completion which is at the MG Car Club
Newcastles' Ringwood Hillclimb track. It set a fastet time of 34.11 seconds
which is a faster time than our
R32 Skyline GTS-t has set at this track to date.
