Cruising in the 1955 Fairlane
Tommy Gun and I had to take the Fairlane out for a spin before we started the restoration. It only blows a wee little bit of smoke so we figured it'd be ok. If you can't tell by all the laughing, we were pretty much having a ball. There's nothing like driving a classic car. For those of you who haven't done it, you really have to try it. Seriously. Hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching! PS - If you have any tips about the overdrive situation please let me know. Thanks. PPS - Music is the song "Little Talks" by "Of Monsters And Men".

He is a classic car fanatic. He has been to the "Back to the 50's" car show at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds almost every year for the past 16 years. When I met him, he was wearing a jacket with the year, make and model of every car he had ever owned embroidered on the sleeves.... and the sleeves were close to full! He purchased this beautiful Crown Victoria about a year ago. He put the power front disc conversion kit on it, power rack and pinion steering and all new bushings in the front end. The one thing he wanted to do to this car, which he did not, was add air conditioning. The paint, chrome and interior are beautiful! A packet of receipts and manuals for the work he did is included in the sale. For more information on this vehicle visit http://tinyurl.com/78ya2q8 Customs are renowned for their use of color and special paints, and this lovely Fairlane is no exception. It's brilliant silver pearl with candy purple, and the difference between these colors and those you'd find on a production car is remarkable. Of course, cool paint will only get you so far if the bodywork isn't properly done, so every panel on this car was sanded, buffed, and massaged until it was laser-straight. And with all that bright trim, there's nowhere for misaligned panels to hide. Like any great custom, the modifications are so subtle and well-executed, it's almost impossible to tell where the changes are, because it looks so factory. Everything is crisp and beautifully blended, and you'll need a stock Fairlane next to this one to see all the modifications. While the original Y-block V8 was no slouch in the horsepower department, this custom is now powered by a healthy 351 cubic inch Windsor V8. Dressed in bright Ford Blue, the engine bay is tidy and easy to service, and a nice compromise between flashy upgrades and OEM equipment. There's chrome on the air cleaner and valve covers, which is pretty much standard equipment in any modified car these days, but to keep it reliable, all the original Ford mechanicals remain in place. The transmission is a C6 3-speed automatic turning the Fairlane's original live rear axle. In fact, aside from modern tube shocks, the suspension and steering systems remain 100% original. The original frame and floors have been undercoated to control heat and noise, and the 351 exhales through a pair of cherry bomb mufflers that were the only choice if you were a hot rodder in the 1950s. Traditionalists will be pleased to see that it rolls on color-matched steel wheels with spinner wheel covers and vintage-looking Coker Classic wide whitewall bias-ply tires. The interior is nicely finished in matching silver and purple fabrics, and it's very tastefully done. With pleated seats, slick cloth and vinyl door panels, and a dashboard painted to match the body, it's the perfect complement to the body. All the original gauges have been retained and remain fully functional, with a trio of auxiliary gauges installed in their own panel under the dash. The original AM radio is still in the dash in a nod to originality and authenticity, with a modern AM/FM/CD head unit right below it so nothing had to be cut or modified. You'll also find that the carpets have been expertly trimmed, with a heel pad for the driver and matching binding on the edges, including around the custom shifter housing. True customs are all about appearances, and the beautifully finished bodywork on this Fairlane is a tribute to the early pioneers of metalworking and paint technology, who were often years and years ahead of the OEMs. With all the right period touches, this is a car that will make guys who were there smile, and create a whole new generation of custom car fans who understand that how a car looks is just as important as how it runs. If you're one of those guys, get in touch today, because this car is a lot of traditional fun for not a lot of money. Call now!

132559 / 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria
For more information on this vehicle visit http://tinyurl.com/86cfjw2 This Mandarin Orange ultra-custom '55 Crown Victoria has won trophies at the Grand National Roadster Show, the Blackie Gejeian Fresno Autorama, Carlisle All-Ford Nationals and impressed the likes Boyd Coddington, George Barris and John Force among others. It's one of the best customs on the planet and it carries the show history to prove it. Body modifications were handled by Bernt Karlsson, owner of Customs by Bernt, who should be familiar to you as Boyd Coddington's painter on the show American Hotrod. Karlsson began making customizations to the body by adding a grille and front bumper from a '59 Thunderbird, pushbutton door openers from a '41 Lincoln and taillights from a '55 Mercury. Once all of that work was finished, round two consisted of front lights from a '55 Mercury station wagon, rear fender skirts from a '57 Mercury station wagon and Cadillac wheel covers which provide a nice subtle stock-yet-custom touch. After the shell was finished, Nosse Brothers took over for the reassembly and customization of the small details. They installed a full set of custom fitted Solex tinted glass, painstakingly built up the Art Morrison chassis before marrying it to the body and handled all finishing aspects of the car from headliner to fuel lines. 1967 Thunderbird landau seats are done in the same soft, aromatic two tan leather as the rest of the cockpit and look great next to Nosse Brothers custom door panels. VDO classic series instruments are set in a customized '56 Ford dash and the Ididit steering column features a billet Budnik steering wheel which complements Nosse Brothers billet pedals. This custom interior veritably screams class, refinement and comfort and makes for an exceptionally well tied together car. Art Morrison built the custom 3" by 4" boxed frame and tubular A arm front suspension which houses Aldan Eagle coil overs at all four corners, a Morrison spindle set, Wilwood 11" disc brakes and a Flaming River rack. Out back, a Morrison four link set hangs a Hooper's Ford 9" with 3.50 gears, Moser 36 spline axles and another pair of Wilwood 11" rear disc brakes. Stainless fasteners are everywhere, braided hoses carry all fluids and the top loader 4-speed and a Cannon Engineering driveshaft is as detailed as the rest of the car. The floors are as perfect as the topside, making a perfect backdrop to the custom 2.5" ceramic coated Exhaust. This is one show car that's as drivable as it is perfect! The big daddy 560 horsepower Ford Racing 460 cubic inch V8 looks right at home in the smoothed engine compartment. D-460 aluminum SCJ heads top the motor, getting their fill from a Blue Thunder dual quad manifold and a pair of Holley 600s. Doug's Headers and a Modine radiator round out the package and complement Bernt's smoothed firewall. Built over a four year period at a cost of more than $250,000, this car is the fulfillment of a childhood dream. When you've got the right people and the right plan trophies just about get mailed to your door. It was Boyd Coddington's personal pick at his eponymous cruise, best of show at John Force's holiday cruise, finished second at the GNRS in mild custom, took the Outstanding Elegance award in Fresno, best custom at Carlisle and Meguiars sponsored the car in 2005. Of course, that list neglects smaller shows that it's gone to, but suffice to say it never lost. Bob McClurg himself wrote the car up in a six page spread in Super Rod. If you're a Ford fan, a custom fan or a 50s fan this car just has to make you smile. With its show winning history, award winning builders, mountain of trophies and dynamite looks this is just the custom car centerpiece you've been looking for to add to your collection!
