CanadaMotorSports Scary Big Rig Race Crash June 2002 Calgary. (Crash at the 2:00 mark) One of the scariest moments I caught in all my 25 years covering racing at Race City. Look for #76, the star and stripes Peterbilt get pinched and wrecked into the corner three wall at the 1:59 mark. Fortunately the driver suffered only minor injuries despite having to be rescued by safety crew with jaws of life. The destruction was staggering, however the truck cockpit stayed together due in part to the construction and thought given to protecting the driver. The race was red flagged in less than five seconds, Race City recue crew was on his truck in less than 30 seconds. Bristol Freighter ZK-CPT - First Taxi In 20 Years In 1986 the Bristol Freighter ZK-CPT ('Merchant Courier') was flown into Omaka Aerodrome (Blenheim, New Zealand) and retired. The aircraft engines were subsequently run on several occasions, but this has not occurred for over 20 years. Enter Alastair Marshall - ex RNZAF Engine Technician, now commercial pilot, and a piston engine enthusiast. Over the past few months, Al has been working on the two Bristol Hercules engines on the aircraft, with the goal of getting the old girl to come to life once more. On 27th September 2008, both engines were fired up, and the aircraft taxied about on Omaka Aerodrome for the first time in approximately twenty years. 2010 Sportsman Shootout AAA Dragway Fontana California - Nostalgia Eliminator I competitor Dave Rico has some kind of mechanical problem (possible fuel line came off at the hit of throttle) and fluids got underneath the tires off the line. The blown altered made a hard left and the driver tried to correct but the machine ended up doing a slow roll over with a pretty nasty hit once it went over. The driver was okay and walked away.
