2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Track Test Drive & Muscle Car Video Review
years Ford has been making some very powerful cars with the Shelby Cobra
GT500 and even the all new 400 HP Coyote 5.0 Liter V8 found under the hood
of the Mustang GT that can
"Go like Hell" in a straight line; however the one problem that plagued
Ford's pony car lineup was effectively getting all that power to the ground
and around a turn. Harking back to the days of Parnelli Jones and classic
Trans-Am racing, the Blue Oval has brought back the famed Boss 302 for
2013, and it comes ready for the track at only $42,200.
The 5.0 liter V-8 engine in the Boss 302 puts out 444 horsepower which is more
than the Mustang GT. The
increased power comes mainly from shortened intake runners. The Boss 302 is
differentiated from the GT thanks to a ton of badging and unique Boss 302
stripe. The Boss comes with 19-inch wheels with summer compound tires that
help keep the car on the track. On the inside you get factory installed
sport seats with Alcantara inserts. You also get an Alcantara steering
wheel and headliner.
One drawback with track tuned cars is usually the rough ride on the road
thanks to the stiff suspension. The Boss 302 has an adjustable suspension
to give you a comfortable ride when commuting to work and a stiff
suspension for handling curves on the track.
If you plan on taking your Mustang GT on the track, you might as
well spend the extra money and step on up to the 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302.
