1978 Mercury Grand Marquis Video 1 Owner 6.6L 400 V8 Classic Youngtimer Lincoln Town Car Ford Sedan
78 Mercury Grand Marquis 312,000 Miles Near Mint 1 Owner 6.6L 400 Big Block Classic Youngtimer http://www.1ownercarguy.com This is a very cool car. Usually I like cars with really low miles but this car is sol cool because it has 312,000 original miles on it and runs like a newer car. This is only a 1 Owner Car and yes the miles are actual. The previous owner drove the car back and fourth from Canada to California. You would never guess the miles by looking at the car. The factory baby blue paint is in great shape and has a very nice shine to it. The factory white vogue top looks great on the car and is in about as good of shape as you will find. The body is straight as can be and the paint is original. It has the 6.6L 400 engine that fires right up and runs great. It has been rebuilt along with many other things on the car. I talked to the mechanics that worked on the car and they remembered the guy and how good he took care of his car and really liked it. You would have to really like a car to put that many miles on it. The car feels and handles like a newer car and just floats down the road. The interior is in mint condition along with the rest of the car. Only the drivers seat shows minimal wear. It looks like he was the only one that made the trips because none of the other seats look like they hardly ever got sat in. Everything about this car is just clean as can be. You won't find another car like this. 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis LS Start Up, Quick Tour, & Rev With Exhaust View - 74K
2006 Mercury Grand Marquis LS Spammers are having insane fun commenting on this video. For the time being, I'm disabling comments until things cool off & hopefully I can re-enable comments to it again. If any of you have legitimate questions about this car, just send me a message in the meantime ;) Sorry for the winds, Hurricane Irene was blowing in some mild winds that day. This one pack Ford's old 4.6L SOHC V8 making only 224 HP which is pumped to the Rear wheels through a 4 speed auto. Pretty much the most old school sedan that you can get & they are one of the toughest full-size sedans that you can get. But don't expect sophisticated handling, top notch interior quality or brisk acceleration.

2009 Mercury Grand Marquis Road Test
2009 Mercury Grand Marquis LS Engine: 4.6 liter SOHC V8 (224 horsepower/275 ft. lbs. of torque) Transmission: 4-speed automatic w/OD Rear Wheel Drive City/Highway MPG: 15/23 This is a full road test of my mom's 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis, to show how it performs in different situations, and to identify any problems that may exist. I would normally do this after having the car in the shop for repairs, but in this case I am driving the car around just to get a better idea of how it feels on the road. I drove it for about 2 hours and came away very impressed. It is comfortable, refined, solid, and very agile. With only 224 horsepower, one would think that it's underpowered compared to its V6 competitors. It's not. The torquey V8 will pin you to your seat when gunned from a dead stop, and once you're up to speed, there is always plenty of power in reserve. The big V8 has a deep, burly muscle car sound when revved, but at low RPMs it is muted and unobtrusive in the cabin. The 4 speed automatic isn't much of a handicap with the V8's torque curve, although it prefers not to downshift into 1st or 2nd unless you mash the pedal to the floor. If you drive with a light foot, and keep RPMs below 2000, you can easily attain 20+ mpg in everyday driving situations. On the highway, the car is very efficient, due to its tall overdrive gear that keeps the RPMs low. The four wheel ABS disc brakes provide adequate stopping power, with reasonably good pedal feel. Stopping distance is short in an emergency, although the front end dives toward the ground. The Marquis handles very well for a big car, even though it is not equipped with the Handling Package (this option was discontinued around 2007). In hard cornering, body roll is minimal and the Michelin tires provide plenty of grip. The rack and pinion steering setup leaves feel somewhat numb, but it's also pleasantly light and very accurate (especially on the highway). Mercury obviously wanted to leave some "slop" in the steering, so the old folks won't think they're driving a Ferrari :) If you must throw the car around, it is safe and predictable, and can be quite fun for a boat. Comfort is where the car really shines. The ride is very smooth, and gives you the feeling of "floating" over bumps. This is great on the highway, where little road imperfections are ironed out, but not so good on bumpy back roads. If you hit potholes or man hole covers, the car pogos up and down a couple times before settling. I enjoy this type of ride, but many people do not. Inside, the car is very quiet, and road noise is minimal. The leather bench seats are supremely comfortable and roomy, even after a couple of hours. Overall I am really pleased with how the car drives, and it just happens to be a car I would consider buying used. R.I.P. Mercury and all the Panther platform cars that have been discontinued. The song at the beginning is Cradle of Love by Billy Idol, one of my favorite 80s songs.

From Wikepedia The Mercury Colony Park was the top-of-the-line full-size station wagon offered by Mercury between 1957 and 1991. It wore woodgrain paneling on the bodysides and tailgate, as did the 1957-1991 Ford Country Squire and the 1958 Edsel Bermuda wagons. For 1979, Mercury joined its Detroit rivals in downsizing its largest models, resulting in a car considerably smaller and lighter than its predecessor. With the downsizing, the former 400- and 460-cubic-inch engines were discontinued, and the 351-cubic-inch Windsor V8 became the largest available in the Colony Park. All Colony Parks were equipped with standard 8-passenger seating and exterior woodgrain siding. The 351 would be dropped early in the 1980s, as most customers deemed the 302 Windsor engine sufficiently powerful. This generation of Colony Park would see few substantial changes during its 12-year lifespan, garnering only minor grille and trim revisions annually through 1987. In 1988, the entire front grille headlamp assembly (shared with the Grand Marquis) was redesigned for a more modern and aerodynamic appearance, and then in 1990, the instrument panel was revamped to allow the addition of a driver's side airbag. When the Grand Marquis was redesigned with aero-styling for 1992, the Colony Park station wagon was dropped from Mercury's lineup. By that time, full-size station wagons were no longer popular due to the increasing popularity of minivans and SUVs. The last full-size station wagons, the Chevrolet Caprice, the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser and the Buick Roadmaster Estate ended production in 1996. In 2005, DaimlerChrysler briefly reintroduced the Dodge Magnum name on a full-size wagon, based on the LX platform Chrysler 300, but it was dropped in 2008. 2004 Lincoln Town Car Start Up, Quick Tour, & Rev With Exhaust View - 105K (MINOR Burnout)
2004 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series Since 1991, Town Car only offered the Ford 4.6L SOHC V8. Since 2003, it has produced 239HP which is put down to the rear wheels through an ancient 4 speed auto. This version of the 4.6L is underpowered for it size. IMO Ford should of made the Intech DOHC or even the 3-Valve version like from the Mustang GT. Ford also could've used their 6 speed auto like Found on the 2006+ V8 Explorer or 2007+ Expedition. Independent rear suspension also would've been a huge welcome. Despite those major drawbacks, Town Car, Grand Marquis, & Crown Victoria are no doubt one of the toughest & most reliable full-size cars on the road today.

2004 Cadillac SRX V8 Start Up, Engine, and In Depth Tour
In this video I give a full in depth tour of the 2004 Cadillac SRX with the Northstar V8. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. This gave it powertrain and suspension commonality with the Mercury Grand Marquis and the Ford LTD Crown Victoria (later the Crown Victoria). This design made them durable even in the rough conditions taxi and livery cars are subjected to, and easy and cheap to repair when they did suffer damage.[3] Town Cars are typically operated in commercial service for at least 400,000 miles.[3] Its large dimensions made it the largest car in production in North America. From 1997 to 2011, the Town Car was the longest car (but not the heaviest) built in the Western Hemisphere, measuring nearly 18 feet (5.49 m) in length for a standard Town Car and 18.5 feet (5.64 m) for an L Edition.[4 Lincoln is also believed to be preparing a true Town Car successor on a rear-wheel drive platform to rival the Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7-series The Town Car underwent a minor exterior facelift for the 1995 model year. Changes to the exterior included smaller, clear headlights as well as additional running lights in the rear. Larger door mirrors were body-colored (formerly chrome), and were moved slightly forward on the door itself. Updated bumpers front and rear, new body side moldings, and the deletion of the small fixed window in the rear doors completed the exterior changes. The antenna was removed from the outside of the car and integrated into the rear window.[16] 1995 also saw the introduction of a new steering wheel, which was used in all Panther-based sedans from 1998 to 2004.[16] In addition to the cruise control buttons,. Also introduced in 1995 was a new digital dash layout (replacing the unit used since 1993) that featured a more italicized look to the readouts, while the exterior temperature readout moved from the dash cluster to the climate control panel. A "miles to go" trip computer feature was added. Dual power recliners with lumbar support—as well as a three-position driver's seat and mirror memory function became standard (formerly optional) on Signature Series which could be assigned to the keyless entry remotes as well as the up to four personal keyless entry codes. Heated seats were a new option, and door panel switches now featured (slight) illumination from a lamp located below the interior door handle. Power door lock switches were back-lit, and were mounted high up on the driver and passenger door panels. The fuel door release (previously mounted in the center dash panel) and trunk release button moved from inside the glove compartment to the lower driver's side door panel. Similar to the previous year, Signature and Cartier models featured dual clamshell storage armrests up front with cassette storage, coin holder, and an optional Cell phone. The 1997 Cartier models held dual cup holders in the rear center armrest, and offered lighted vanity mirrors in the headliner for the two outboard rear seating positions. With the demise of the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham after 1996, the Town Car became the last of its kind: the last American full-size, rear-wheel drive luxury car. The demise of the Fleetwood also made the Town Car the largest mass-produced car available in North America. I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (http://www.youtube.com/editor)
