1982 FORD EXP Deluxe Sport * VERY Very RARE CAR (see description)
I have this driving red/black car and another blue 1982 also that is a 100% solid. For both cars, I would sell pair for $2800. After seeing the last 5 years these sell all rusted out for $1000 to $3000, thats a cheap price. The 1982 EXP is for parts even though I drove it 130 miles home to use as a parts car, I only got a bill of sale and DMV clearance.. The red/black has clear title and registration, the deluxe car has a little rust on the hood, nowhere else. Shock towers, belly, floors, trunk all clean as new. Car weighs under 2200 lbs, has a small engine that has possibilities for over 200 horsepower and currently gets over 40 mpg as is. Based on the Ford Escort mechanicals from 1980 to 1989. For both cars, I would sell for $2800 It has 55,900 original miles on it and needs a tune up, repaint and a few basics. The belt on the cam is new as is the rotor but little else from factory build. Was used as a tow car behind a motorhome for a few years and was placed in storage from 1987 till 2011. Normal wear, aging and issues. It drives good but would be awesome restored like new. I have only put 1700 miles on it in 2 1/2 years. Yep, run the tires off it!! Only 83 were even registered in North America in 2011, less now. Only 370 are known to even exist now. I OWN 2!! Cool Huh.
1984 Ford EXP (currently for sale)
I don't know why it was idling so rough, as it usually is rather smooth. It was almost 100 degrees outside the day I did the video though. Maybe that had something to do with it.... Can see better clip of the car running at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxWhvMGYKgg Incidentally, the hood does close all-the-way, it's just a pain to open sometimes, so that's why I had it ajar for the purpose of filming the video.
1988.5 Ford Escort EXP 1.9L CFI 2 Door, 2 or 5 seater coupe.
I noticed there are very few video's on what a Ford Escort EXP is. This is the second generation model and the last one they came out with. The 88.5's are all Luxury Sport Coupe's but it doesn't say that anywhere on the car. I got mine from the original owner in 2012 and he had bought the backseat for it when he had kids a few years after he bought the car. It came standard with Fog Lights but when I bought it one was missing and wiring was burnt up so I just ripped it all out. I might get another set one day for it to keep it close to original. The only things that aren't original on it are the air box cover that I painted Ford blue, and the Stereo system. Its basicly an Escort that they came out with in the 80's to appeal to the younger crowd. At the time the only other 2 seater car was the Thunderbird and they wanted to replace the Mustang with this front wheel drive style car. Once Mustang owners found out they were trying to switch to a FWD car they lost it and Ford quickly stopped the EXP. They had already spent so much money on the project they came out with the Probe for a while and then that was dropped completely and the Mustang lived on! If you drive it by the shift indicator light on the gauge cluster you will get stupid good fuel economy and shift it at 2,000rpm. If you drive it a little harder and shift it at 3,000 it will get some... for a 4 cylinder... When these cars were new they were advertised at 44 Miles per gallon. The tank is 40 Litres and I can get 600km if I fill it at 1/4 tank.
