2012 Beetle Turbo Launch Edition Walkaround
I've been a classic VW nut for years, I had a 1969 VW bug as my first car. I kinda miss that thing and hope to find another someday, but when the New Beetle came out I got excited. After its novelty wore off it became excessively "cute" and it seems that Volkswagen has done a number at reviving the car and bringing it out as a "New New Beetle" once again giving it a pair of nuts this time.
I like it, its a far cry from the original, though its styling seems to be more reminiscent of the original than the first generation New Beetle was.

► 2012 VW Beetle CRASH TEST
The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger. However, the steering column was believed to pose a risk to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. In the side barrier test, the Beetle scored maximum points, providing good protection to all body areas. In the more sever side pole test, protection of the chest was adequate and that of other body areas was good. The seat and head restraint provided good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision.

The Beetle has a base price of $18,495 and comes with 2 different engine options. The first is a 2.5 liter engine which got a nice power bump over the previous generation. Now this 2.5 liter 5-cylinder puts out 170 horsepower and 177 lb-ft. of torque while netting 22 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway. The second engine type is the turbo 2.0 liter engine that is found in a bunch of other Volkswagen cars like the GTI. This engine is a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder that produces 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft. of torque while managing 22 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway.
The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle is back and better than ever. Volkswagen has produced a car that is sleek, fast, and stylish. This Beetle should become a great selling vehicle for VW.

Volkswagen de México inició oficialmente la producción del nuevo Beetle en su planta de Puebla de la segunda generación del Beetle, con lo que se refrenda a nuestro país como la única plataforma de lanzamiento de este modelo a nivel mundial. El Presidente Felipe Calderón Hinojosa y el señor Guido Westerwelle, Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores de la República Federal de Alemania dieron este viernes, el banderazo de salida al nuevo VW Beetle 2012.
Volkswagen invirtió en México 400 millones de dólares en el rediseño de la línea de producción del nuevo Beetle. De acuerdo con VW México el 90 por ciento de la producción será exportada a todo el mundo. Con este proyecto, que da continuidad al modelo New Beetle lanzado en 1997, se estima que se conservan dos mil empleos en Volkswagen, así como el refuerzo en la participación de empresas proveedoras nacionales de autopartes y servicios.
