67-68 Cougar Buying Guide: What To Look For
In this video, Don does a detailed inspection on a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7
to show some of the things you should look for when buying one of these
classic cars. Some of the insight here can potentially save you hundreds,
even thousands, when you go to negotiate with a seller. Also, it will help
those of you trying to sell, to more accurately advertise the strengths and
weaknesses of your car.
We've also done a similar video with a 1970 Cougar convertible, so you may
want to check that out too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fizb2vo68vA

a few years. Full restoration started in 1994. Now it isa weekend and

Convertible Top Installation: 1969 - 1970 Cougar / Mustang
In this episode, we tackle the daunting task of installing a convertible
top on a 1969 Mercury Cougar. Instead of stumbling through it ourselves,
we watch a professional do the installation and take note of some of the
details and tricks involved in the process. Javier was there to help and
translate, and the end result was a great looking black convertible top.
Parts we used in the video can be found in the convertible top section of
our website here: http://www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/convertible1.html

Mercury Cars of 1949 to 1951
The Mercury car model has been around since 1939 and was introduced as a
mid range priced vehicle by Edsel Ford.
Cars built between 1949 and 1951, would in later years prove to be very
popular amongst the Hot Rod Car Enthusiasts. They would reshape the steel
to produce cars that would set a new standard for Customized Vehicles.
Early model Mercury cars of 1949 to 1951 had a 90 degree V type, "L" head 8
cylinder engine with a displacement of 255.4 cubic inches. These engines
put out 112 horsepower at 3600 R.P.M.
Later model cars of 1955 replaced the "L" engine with the "Y" block V-8
producing between 188 and 198 horsepower dependant on the
engine type for that year.
This slide show is a part of a series of pictures of cars from different
car shows that I've attended here in Southern California U.S.A.
Front Suspension & Chassis Upgrades - '68 Cougar / Mustang
In this video, we show some of the ways you can easily stiffen your car's
chassis and upgrade your front suspension. Using Andrew's '68 Cougar as a
guinea pig, we bolt on, and weld on, some simple parts that will make a big
difference in reducing the torsional flex that these front ends are prone
to, as well as improving the integrity of the shock towers.

Bonneville SSEi vs '67 Cougar
My brother, dad and I were all heading to a local cruise in and by chance
my dad and I lined up at the light. Dad never looked over at me so I wasn't
sure, but usually he messes around for fun. My brother has the camera
driving the '93 Bonneville SSE behind me. So the light turns green and I
launched. I got to around 60-70mph and let off because I thought dad didn't
get on it. Of course as soon as I let off I realized he was a'comin'
quickly. But by then it would have only created problems had I got back on
it since the road narrows to one lane and we would have got there at the
same time, so I had to let him go. Turns out he was just fooling with me,
letting me get out and then reeling me back in, however had I stayed on it,
I would have still been ahead. So obviously in his eyes he won, I think I
had him for where we were, but the Cougar is without a doubt much quicker,
not denying that.
