1965 Jaguar MK2 3.8 Manual

Back in the days of The Sweeney, Jaguar's MK2 was the choice of blaggards and felons in trying to out run Scotland Yard's Ford Granadas. But does the Jaguar MK2 meet the requirements of Sir William Lyons in providing Grace, Pace and Space? We took Great Escape Classic Car Hire's tidy example out and think it probably couldn't define it any better.

Jaguar Mk 2 4.0 - JD Classics
JD Classics are the worldwide Jaguar Heritage Racing partner for Jaguar Cars Ltd. We effectively look after and maintain the most valuable road and race Jaguars for the manufacturer and through hundreds of race preparations and restorations of Mk. II Jaguars - we have an unrivalled experience of upgrading this particular Jaguar model. This special Jaguar Mk11 that JD Classics has for sale has benefited from approximately 3000 hours' work - and represents the pinnacle of the classic Mk11 Jaguar style with the benefit of 50 years' worth of development and technology improvements. We started off with a 1962 Jaguar Mk. II and treated the car to a full JD Classics restoration to JD Sport specification 5 years ago - since then the car has been subject to an annual no-expense spared maintenance programme and is in exceptional condition. The specification includes: Fully restored, rustproofed and strengthened body shell - fitted with Coombs rear wheel arches and finished in Opalescent Dark Blue. The interior has been trimmed with grey hide throughout with matching carpets, JD Sport electric adjustable and heated seats, steel electric sunroof, power windows, tinted glass, heated rear screen, inertia reel front and rear seat belts, custom made rear baby seats in matching grey leather with ISO fix fittings. Modern refinements include our latest zoned digital air conditioning and electric adjustable power steering has been fitted in last the few months. The fully rebuilt, balanced and hand assembled 4.0 AJ6 fuel injected engine - provides very strong power and torque - with figures well in excess of the most highly tuned 3.8 engines from 50 years ago. This particular car with its advanced engine management and upgraded cooling system - drives exactly like a modern GT car - fuss free in traffic - without overheating - not something which can always be said of an original Mk. II Jaguar! When it comes to driving - the modern 5 speed gearbox fitted to this car is a massive advance over its period Moss fitment - not just in ease of use and shift quality - but also with the additional 5th gear - relaxed high speed cruising now becomes the cars forte. In addition - whilst we'll concede economy is hardy the rationale behind this car - the fuel injected modern engine together with the improved gearbox provides a welcome and practical benefit in fuel economy - and provides the car with a usefully longer range than it's period counterpart. These significant performance upgrades are tamed by AP 4 pot racing brakes with ABS - together with the security and stability of our JD Sport suspension and the car runs on strengthened competition specification chromed wire wheels with period sympathetic modern performance tyres. If you are looking to make an emotional and financial investment in the very best Jaguar Mk. II available anywhere - this car presents a marriage of classic Jaguar style with a thoroughly enjoyable and exhilarating modern 21st century driving experience - amply capable of coping with today's more arduous traffic conditions.

Jaguar Mk 2 - Very High Specification - JD Classics
If you want an example of the absolute ultimate JD Mk11 Jaguar - the Willow Green example we have here is probably a pretty good starting point. This Jaguar Mk11 3.8 was built by JD Classics without any consideration to cost - the final build total was well in excess of half a million pounds and the brief was quite simple from the client who commissioned the car - "build me the ultimate modern interpretation of the iconic MK11 Jaguar." The full specification list of extras applied to this car is too long to list - but highlights include: Full spec 4.7 engine on Throttle bodies - advanced engine management - every component balanced - and hand assembled in our race engine shop on site. We have a hard won reputation for building the most powerful XK race engines in the world - the same race engine builders built this engine as a showcase of what probably represents the ultimate road/race Jaguar XK engine. To cope with the prodigious performance increase and to keep things cool - additional oil coolers for engine and transmission were installed under the front bumper in custom made shrouds, a custom made alloy radiator was fitted, the bonnet features custom louvers and in the engine bay - we installed extra inner wing engine cooling vents. We fitted Solid billet brake/clutch Reservoirs on the bulkhead and the car featured a hidden large capacity windscreen washer reservoir. This engine was paired to a bespoke 5 speed close ratio JD Gearbox, and this power was tamed by race specification Dual Circuit Brakes, Remote control Shock Absorbers, with Full electrical power steering and the car sits on Custom 16 Inch stainless steel period wire wheels. Other custom features include - a Wiring loom to F1 standard with old fashioned original style covering/Braiding and following racecar practice - the Battery was moved to the boot for better weight distribution. A neat idea was the use of a Photo cell on rear parcel shelf to enable constant charging of the battery! Naturally both front and rear screens were heated. The interior of the car included: JD custom seats with Hidden Rear inertia seat belts. Derrington Steering Wheel, with Period custom Switch gear to the left of the wheel. Custom Pedals, Ipod Dock Custom made in the centre console with Sat Nav above Radio and incorporating Hidden Speakers. Custom made Air conditioning fitted in the bulkhead with the switches in the Ashtray, Foot well lighting - Fully retractable Umbrellas fitted to front door pillars. For use in today's busy traffic conditions - Rear Headrests were fitted with Brake lights, Parking sensors were added, LED Fog lights in the rear brake light cluster were incorporated. Twin outside fuel fillers were fitted and for security - Central Locking including the boot and an Iso fix child rear seat fixing were incorporated - just in case you had to transport small precious cargo... Perhaps the most appropriate extra which is highly relevant to a car of this performance was the fitment of Radar in both the front and rear Number plates.... Whilst it would be naive to suggest this car did not suggest it had something a little "extra" under the bonnet - the discreet exquisite hand built body of this classic Jaguar belied the tremendous real world performance of this very fast and refined GT car - much to the astonishment of other road users who have been passed whilst driving their modern "performance" cars... JD Classics reputation speaks for itself - we build the best bespoke Jaguars in the world - and our wealth of experience, success on track, - together with our endorsement by Jaguar Cars Ltd as their worldwide Jaguar Heritage Racing partner - means that - when you ask us to build your ultimate specification classic Jaguar for use on today's roads - we confidently assert we can build the best and meet or exceed your expectations.
