Top 5 small off-road worthy Crossovers reviewed
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) Wikipedia says, "a crossover is a vehicle built
on a car platform and combining, in highly variable degrees, features of a
sport utility vehicle (SUV) with features from a passenger vehicle,
especially those of a station wagon or hatchback." We simply like to say
that the crossover is the new family truckster. Here are the Top 5 off-road
worthy crossovers that we've driven in 2011.

The 2012 edition of the Chevrolet Traverse is being rolled out. This is a
crossover SUV that is made with some of the best fuel standards around and
works with a third row of seats that is easy for anyone to manage. It has
become one of the most notable 7 seat SUVs around and has become so popular
that it can be found today in various trims. Read about the Chevrolet
Traverse 2011 first!.
A key about the 2012 Chevy Traverse is that it features a number of points
that are similar to what it has had in the past but it will have a few
changes that still make it impressive. Meanwhile, this is expected to be
the last of the current Traverse models. A full redesign of Chevy Traverse
is expected for 2013. It is not clear as to what the new version will have
but the current 2012 version will be a good chance for anyone to pick up
one of the top SUVs that seat seven.
The Engine Works Right
The engine that is being used for this 2012 7 seat car is the same that was
used in the 2011 edition of the Traverse. It is a 3.6L V6 engine. It works
to get the standard 17/24 mpg rating that was found in the previous model,
thus creating something that is a little easier to manage when compared
with other vehicles. These include things like the Toyota Highlander, a
vehicle that is similar to the Traverse but only gets a 15/22 mpg rating.
This engine works with an all wheel drive function. A six speed automatic
transmission is also used here. This works with one of the smoothest
acceleration procedures around, thus providing anyone with the most
effective driving functions around.
The suspension is also completely independent from other functions around
the vehicle. This is used to create a better ride that is easier to manage.
The Interior is Useful
The dimensions in the Traverse are around the same as what the 2011 model
used. The car has 36.8 inches of leg room in the second row and 33.2 inches
in the third row. There is also about sixty inches of shoulder room in
every row around the car.
The third row can especially be useful not only because it has cup holders
but also because it works alongside a second row that is easy to manage.
The second row uses a Smart Slide seat that is easy to move around. It can
be slid forward with a single motion to help create plenty of space and to
make it so people can get in and out of the car as easily as possible.
The fact that the second and third row seats can be laid down flat helps as
well. In fact, the 2012 Chevrolet Traverse offers around 120 cubic feet of
cargo space. This is much greater than what other 7 seat cars have,
particularly the Ford Explorer with its 80 cubic feet of cargo space.
This works with a few different features that make the car more beneficial.
First, the vehicle has air bags on varying points. These include rear body
and curtain air bags. There are six total air bags around the vehicle.

2009 Chevrolet Traverse Review - Kelley Blue Book
Although the once-thriving SUV business is in a sales downturn, GM is
keenly aware that many Americans still have a need for seven-passenger
transportation. With this in mind, GM has created a new line of crossover
SUVs offering maximum interior space, mid-level towing capability and fuel
economy numbers that reach into the mid-twenties. The latest iteration of
this well-conceived platform is the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse, a vehicle that
combines contemporary styling, one of the best accident-avoidance systems
in the business and an interior worthy of a high-end luxury car - all at a
Chevrolet price. For more new car reviews, interviews and automotive news

Chevrolet Traverse Review 2014 [AUTO TV] HD
The 2014 Chevrolet Traverse is a spacious, comfortable, and reasonably
responsive family vehicle that's not a minivan. Yes, charm still might be
something that's a little lacking in the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse; but
that's really beside the point.
The Chevy Traverse is essentially a vehicle designed and engineered to
those who just a few years ago might have found themselves bewildered at
the lack of large family vehicles. Although it might build on some of the
styling cues of GM SUVs, the Traverse is essentially a tall station wagon.
For today's biggest families, who are concerned about image and features,
yet also space, comfort, and safety, the Traverse adds up to a very smart
The design of the Traverse has seen very little change since its original
introduction in 2009; last year it was given a minor touch-up in the front
and rear, although it's far from what GM termed "an athletic new exterior
design." Although the face is a bit fresher, we're more attracted to the Camaro-influenced
taillamps, which break through a factory-farm of same-as crossover designs.
Inside, the Traverse is nothing exciting, but it's very functional, and
last year's refresh brought a few new wood and silver accents, some
contrast stitching, and ambient lighting. Last year Chevy also reconfigured
the climate controls for 2013 and brought in more soft-touch materials.
Don't expect the 2014 Traverse to feel all that quick or agile, but it's
quick enough for family use. At about 5,000 pounds, the Traverse is a very
heavy vehicle, and it does little from behind the wheel to mask that. The
smooth 3.6-liter direct-injection V-6 rated at 288 horsepower and 270
pound-feet, and has been programmed for more confident passing power and
quicker shifts; yet this is still a combination that needs to work hard up
highway grades or from a standing start. That said, it can tow up to 5,200
pounds. You can get either front- or all-wheel-drive configurations of the
Traverse, but AWD versions are a little more sluggish.
If you're one who's disowned minivans in the past and wouldn't bow to that
image again, the Chevrolet Traverse remains one of the most spacious,
passenger-friendly vehicles on the market. The Traverse's primary mission
is people-moving, so GM has made the most of the seating space here. Over
three rows, there's space for up to eight occupants, with the seats divided
into two front buckets and two 60/40-split benches. Bench or captain's
chairs arrangements are offered in the second row, and we'd opt for the
bench as the individual seats aren't much more comfortable. There's one
weakness of the Traverse versus minivans: Its cargo floor is a bit high and
not as easy-loading, although folding the second and third rows down yields
117.5 cubic feet.
The Traverse has earned some of the best crash-test scores of any vehicle
sold in the U.S., and together with the closely related Buick Enclave and
GMC Acadia, it's one of the first vehicles on the market to offer a front
center side airbag. Otherwise, standard safety features include parking
sensors, a rearview camera system, hill start assist (to help you start
safety on a steep incline), and head-curtain side bags with rollover
mitigation technology. On LTZ models, the Traverse includes Side Blind Zone
Alert, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Rear Cross
Traffic Alert—all features that may help you avoid an accident
Three trim levels of the 2014 Traverse are offered: LS, LT, and LTZ. Top
LTZ models are really luxury models if you go by features, while LS trims
are no-fuss (albeit well-equipped) family vehicles. All Traverse models get
the Chevrolet MyLink system, which includes a 6.5-inch color touch screen,
enabling smartphone integration as well as easy streaming of Pandora and
Stitcher internet-based entertainment.
2012 Chevrolet Traverse Test Drive & Crossover SUV Review
http://www.autobytel.com/chevrolet/traverse/2012/?id=32972 The 2012
Chevrolet Traverse one of the better looking crossover SUVs on the market.
The Traverse is not only very functional but it provides a lot of utility.
It's a great everyday vehicle as well as a wonderful family automobile. The
interior seats are easy to reconfigure which allows for plenty of cargo
space. The doors are large and make it a breeze for adults to get into and
out of the rear seats. Speaking of seats the 2012 Chevy Travers can carry
up to eight passengers. The 2012 Chevrolet Traverse is powered by a
direct-injected 3.6 liter V-6 engine that produces 281 horsepower and 266 lb-ft. of
torque. This engine also gets great fuel economy numbers at 17 MPG in the
city and 24 MPG on the highway. The 2012 Chevrolet Traverse has a base
price of $29,430.
