Custom 1978 Chevrolet K10 1500 Pickup Truck 4x4 Lifted
Just some quick clips of my 1978 Chevy K10 Pickup. This was my first project truck when I was just a youngster in high school.
The truck started its life with a 400 small block V8 and a turbo 350 transmission. My father purchased it from a rancher who was the original owner. I was with my dad when he bought it and the old rancher and his wife both cried when the truck left. My dad used it for many years as a hunting truck. When I turned 16 and got my license, I asked my dad if I could fix the old truck up. He asked me what I wanted to do to it, and when I told him my plans, he agreed.
I took the truck to my high school's auto shop because I had signed up for an engine building class. We pulled the stock 400 and purchased a 350 small block with a 4 bolt main from a local wrecking yard. Smith Auto machined the block, bored it out .030 over, blue printed it, and balanced it with a 400 crank. The 383 stroker was born.
Keith Black flat top pistons, Eagle rods, Scorpion billet roller tip rockers, 202 heads with over-sized 3 angled valves, Melling high volume oil pump, 7 quart oil pan, Edelbrock Performer camshaft and intake manifold, MSD pro billet distributor, Edelbrock 750 carb, and Summit Racing truck headers made the beast roar through true dual Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. The truck never saw a Dyno, but was pushing around 425 horsepower and would smoke both of the 35" tires from a roll.
The first trip to the dunes with the new motor destroyed the original transmission. It was rebuilt with a heavy duty torque converter and a B&M stage 2 shift kit which barked the tires in 2nd and shifted very hard.
California smog laws are strict so eventually the 383 had to go and a milder 350 was built to take its place. The truck was sold with the 350 in it as seen in this video.
It was on a Rancho 6" lift, springs in the front, blocks in the back. It had a limited slip rear differential with 3.73 gears. It had 17" billet wheels and 35"x12.50" BFG Mud Terrains. The paint color was Dodge Viper RT/10 Red. All chrome molding was shaved. It had an aluminum four core radiator and chrome differential covers. Also had Rancho RS9000 air shocks adjustable from in the cab. Interior was two tone gray tweed and vinyl with Autometer Ultra Lite NASCAR gauges. Dash and door panels were wrapped in vinyl, dash had billet accents. Custom Sony Xplod MP3 stereo system with two 6x9s in the doors and two 6.5s in the kick panels with two 12" subwoofers behind the seat in a custom molded and carpeted box. Subs were powered by a 1200 watt amp, plus the stereo's 200 watts made the system 1400 watts. The truck was converted to an electronic Holley fuel pump. Truck had a steel push bumper with a hidden Ramsey 8000 lb winch.

no cracks in the dash.

Every bearing, bushing, mount, etc. was replaced. Polyurethane where
5.3 (LS) swap. TH350. C.A.I. 93 oct. tune (HPTuners)
8" Superlift front springs. 6" Rough Country rears (-2 leafs)
20x12 Gear 726MBs (custom paint). 38x15.50 Toyo M/Ts.
Corbeau SS seats. Fiberglassed dash. Custom halos.
ALL interior lights are green LEDs (gauge/dash, dome, behind pumpkin)

this is a video i put together for my Fiance as a 3rd year anniversary
gift. He wanted to make a video of the build on his Chevy tuck. so i did
it for him. but obviously i have a normal copy with no music added and no
intro with our pictures so that he can have the option to tweak it and add
what ever audio he wants.

wo owner truck. It looks like nothing has ever been in the PU bed. Real
straight body and we did not find any rust. Interior is excellent. It had 2
seat covers over the original seat. The seats look new. The dash is
excellent. Drives even better than it looks. So if you want an outstanding
PU to drive or to show off, this would be a good one to own and drive.
Chevy V-8 engine with automatic transmission. Power steering. Power brakes.
AM/FM sound system. Good looking alloy wheels with excellent tires. Chrome
bumpers front and rear. Set up to tow with hitch and trailer brakes. I
look at a lot of these PUs always trying to buy them, but very hard to find
in this kind of condition. Cond. # 3+.
