Ride along in the 2012 Subaru WRX STI as 2011 Rally America National Champions David Higgins and Craig Drew pilot Subaru Rally Team USA #75 through the intensely slippery and icy conditions found at the 2012 Sno*Drift Rally in Atlanta, Michigan. The lack of grip was described as unbelievable and forced the team to take many junctions at just a few miles per hour in order to stay on the road. Despite this, their precise and quick driving set them up with a nearly two minute lead early in the event which they carried until the finish, winning the first event on the 2012 Rally America National Championship series.
The Sno*Drift Rally features nearly 130 miles of snow and ice-covered roads in northern Michigan. Constantly changing weather and road conditions historically make this rally extremely challenging made even more treacherous as Rally America rules prohibit the use of spiked or studded ice tires here placing a premium on road traction.

Travis Pastrana POV onboard from Rally in 100 Acre Wood 2014
Travis Pastrana and co-driver Chrissie Beavis tackle the high speeds and
jumps on Stage 13 "Camelback" at Missouri's 2014 Rally in the 100 Acre
Action sports superstar Travis Pastrana made a triumphant return to rally
racing with a second overall finish at the 2014 Rally in the 100 Acre Wood.
After nearly three years away from the sport, Pastrana, a former four-time
Rally America Champion, has returned to his Subaru team for 2014.
Pastrana began The Rally in the 100 Acre Wood with conservative ambitions,
aiming to log miles and get back up to speed safely. He would need to
acclimate to his new co-driver, veteran co-driver Chrissie Beavis, and a
new 2014 Subaru STI rally car that is substantially faster than the Subaru he drove for the team
nearly three years ago. In addition to those challenges a dislocated ankle
and a still healing broken leg hobbled Pastrana throughout the weekend.
Named after the storybook home of Winnie the Pooh, The Rally in the 100
Acre Wood is set in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains of Missouri.
Representing round two of the eight event Rally America Championship, the
rally features very high-speeds on smooth and flowing gravel roads that are
a favorite of many rally drivers.

Subaru Isle of Man TT Record Attempt
Subaru of America, Inc. has released a new YouTube video of the 2011 Subaru
WRX STI setting an all-time course record for the historic Isle of Man TT
Mountain Course. The 5 minute 25 second video highlights in graphic detail
the speed and drama surrounding rally driver Mark Higgins' lap that
averaged 115.356 MPH. After the run, Higgins talks through the "moment" at
Brey Hill when he momentarily loses, and then regains, control of the WRX
STI at more than 150 MPH.
Driving a US specification 2011 Subaru WRX STI, Higgins achieved speeds of
162 MPH and a lapped time of 19 minutes 37 seconds over the 37-mile track,
navigating more than 200 corners.
"This is one of the most daunting tracks I have ever driven, and the most
terrifying," said Higgins, a Manx native. "We were only able to get two
practice runs and on our second practice I had the biggest "moment" of my
career. We had a passenger on the run and so coming into Bray Hill at more
than 150 MPH, the extra weight compressed the suspension more than on
previous runs and shifted the Subaru to the left and then right as I
corrected--it was a real tank slapper. The whole thing went by so quickly
that we never slowed below 110 MPH, and then we were back on the power. It
was amazing and the helicopter shots really show just how hairy it really
The WRX STI was a production US spec car running a standard 305 HP turbocharged boxer engine. Some safety
modifications were made. The Subaru was equipped with a Lifeline fire
suppression system, Hockley Motorsports roll cage, motordrive competition
seats, Mintex brake pads (but stock calipers and rotors), and a louder open
Exhaust to warn spectators of the
on-coming car. The speed limiter was turned off to allow a higher maximum
speed; off-the shelf Tien springs and dampers were added to accommodate the
numerous high-speed jumps on the circuit, sending the WRX STI almost four
feet off the ground. The car ran on street legal Pirelli P Zero Trofeo
Dave Mirra Stages Comeback to Finish 2nd Overall at Season Opener Sno*Drift Rally
(January 31, 2011) Subaru Rally Team USA driver Dave Mirra achieved a rally
career best 2nd Overall finish at the season opening Sno*Drift Rally via a
comeback late in the rally. Mirra, at the wheel of his 2011 Subaru Impreza
WRX STI rally car, patiently moved up the leaderboard after a tire puncture
early in the rally dropped him down to 5th Overall.
Driving smooth and mistake free Mirra, with co-driver Marshall Clarke,
caught and overhauled 2nd overall position on the penultimate stage of the
rally. The 2011 Sno*Drift Rally, held in snowy northern Michigan was round
one of the six round 2011 Rally America National Championship.
Mirra's new teammate, multi-time British and American Rally champion David
Higgins, co-driven by Craig Drew, made his competition debut with Subaru
Rally Team USA at the 2011 Sno*Drift Rally. Higgins led the rally briefly
before an engine issue forced him to retire from the event late on day one.
The Sno*Drift Rally featured nearly 130 miles of snow and ice-covered roads
in northern Michigan with nearly one third of the miles run at night.
Constantly changing weather and road conditions historically make this
rally one of the most difficult in the Rally America Championship. The
event is made even more challenging due to Rally America rules that
prohibit the use of spiked or studded ice tires, placing a premium on
Gunning For Gold

the six events of the series.

and over 550 hp for the Global Rallycross Series and X Games.

On Sunday, June 26, 2011, Subaru Rally Team USA driver David Higgins
needed only six minutes and 11.54 seconds to finish the famed Mt.

from 1998. Higgins also beat the unofficial record of 6:20.47 set by
