Ride along in the 2012 Subaru WRX STI as 2011 Rally America National Champions David Higgins and Craig Drew pilot Subaru Rally Team USA #75 through the intensely slippery and icy conditions found at the 2012 Sno*Drift Rally in Atlanta, Michigan. The lack of grip was described as unbelievable and forced the team to take many junctions at just a few miles per hour in order to stay on the road. Despite this, their precise and quick driving set them up with a nearly two minute lead early in the event which they carried until the finish, winning the first event on the 2012 Rally America National Championship series.
The Sno*Drift Rally features nearly 130 miles of snow and ice-covered roads in northern Michigan. Constantly changing weather and road conditions historically make this rally extremely challenging made even more treacherous as Rally America rules prohibit the use of spiked or studded ice tires here placing a premium on road traction.

Subaru Isle of Man TT Record Attempt
Subaru of America, Inc. has released a new YouTube video of the 2011 Subaru
WRX STI setting an all-time course record for the historic Isle of Man TT
Mountain Course. The 5 minute 25 second video highlights in graphic detail
the speed and drama surrounding rally driver Mark Higgins' lap that
averaged 115.356 MPH. After the run, Higgins talks through the "moment" at
Brey Hill when he momentarily loses, and then regains, control of the WRX
STI at more than 150 MPH.
Driving a US specification 2011 Subaru WRX STI, Higgins achieved speeds of
162 MPH and a lapped time of 19 minutes 37 seconds over the 37-mile track,
navigating more than 200 corners.
"This is one of the most daunting tracks I have ever driven, and the most
terrifying," said Higgins, a Manx native. "We were only able to get two
practice runs and on our second practice I had the biggest "moment" of my
career. We had a passenger on the run and so coming into Bray Hill at more
than 150 MPH, the extra weight compressed the suspension more than on
previous runs and shifted the Subaru to the left and then right as I
corrected--it was a real tank slapper. The whole thing went by so quickly
that we never slowed below 110 MPH, and then we were back on the power. It
was amazing and the helicopter shots really show just how hairy it really
The WRX STI was a production US spec car running a standard 305 HP turbocharged boxer engine. Some safety
modifications were made. The Subaru was equipped with a Lifeline fire
suppression system, Hockley Motorsports roll cage, motordrive competition
seats, Mintex brake pads (but stock calipers and rotors), and a louder open
Exhaust to warn spectators of the
on-coming car. The speed limiter was turned off to allow a higher maximum
speed; off-the shelf Tien springs and dampers were added to accommodate the
numerous high-speed jumps on the circuit, sending the WRX STI almost four
feet off the ground. The car ran on street legal Pirelli P Zero Trofeo
Dave Mirra Stages Comeback to Finish 2nd Overall at Season Opener Sno*Drift Rally
(January 31, 2011) Subaru Rally Team USA driver Dave Mirra achieved a rally
career best 2nd Overall finish at the season opening Sno*Drift Rally via a
comeback late in the rally. Mirra, at the wheel of his 2011 Subaru Impreza
WRX STI rally car, patiently moved up the leaderboard after a tire puncture
early in the rally dropped him down to 5th Overall.
Driving smooth and mistake free Mirra, with co-driver Marshall Clarke,
caught and overhauled 2nd overall position on the penultimate stage of the
rally. The 2011 Sno*Drift Rally, held in snowy northern Michigan was round
one of the six round 2011 Rally America National Championship.
Mirra's new teammate, multi-time British and American Rally champion David
Higgins, co-driven by Craig Drew, made his competition debut with Subaru
Rally Team USA at the 2011 Sno*Drift Rally. Higgins led the rally briefly
before an engine issue forced him to retire from the event late on day one.
The Sno*Drift Rally featured nearly 130 miles of snow and ice-covered roads
in northern Michigan with nearly one third of the miles run at night.
Constantly changing weather and road conditions historically make this
rally one of the most difficult in the Rally America Championship. The
event is made even more challenging due to Rally America rules that
prohibit the use of spiked or studded ice tires, placing a premium on

Subaru driver David Higgins completed the biggest comeback of his career to
finish second overall on the sinuous and technical dirt roads of
Pennsylvania's 2012 Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally (STPR), round
four of six in the 2012 Rally America National Championship. Higgins
dropped over three minutes to the leaders after a mechanical problem struck
his Subaru on the event's first stage dropping him down to 13th Overall.
With his BFGoodrich-tires shod Subaru WRX STI fully repaired for STPR's
second and much longer day of rallying, Higgins pushed hard and climbed the
leaderboard, finding himself on the podium at the finish. The strong
result retains Higgins' substantial lead in the 2012 Rally America
Championship standings and puts him within a handful of points of securing
his second straight Rally America crown with two events still remaining.

Subaru Dog Commercial
"Subaru Dog Commercial". Subaru is debuting its new "Dog Tested Dog
Approved" campaign during the annual Animal Planet Dog fest on Sundays.
The two dogs used in the commercials, Olive and Zelda, were adopted from
animal shelters. Subaru has sponsored the American Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals since last year and is marking its
connection with the organization through this new television campaign. The
Subaru Forester is an all-wheel drive station wagon, now crossover,
manufactured since 1997 by Subaru. Originally introduced to the United
States in 1998, the Forester shared its platform with the Impreza up to the
third generation and now features a hybrid platform of the Japanese Impreza
wagon and the rear platform of the U.S.-spec Impreza sedan. The Forester
was designed and built with four-wheel drive (AWD) as standard equipment.
In the U.S., in 2003, a turbocharged
Forester, the XT, was released alongside the naturally-aspirated X and XS
in the United States as a 2004 model. However, the same model had been
available since the late 1990s elsewhere in the world. The X and XS models
feature a 2.5 L SOHC engine, while the XT model features a 2.5 L turbocharged DOHC engine. Both engines have timing
belt driven camshafts. The XT model uses the same Mitsubishi TD04 turbocharger used in the Subaru Impreza
WRX. The engine in the 2004 to 2005 Forester XT is identical to the
American market Subaru Impreza WRX STi except for using the smaller TD04 turbocharger from the WRX, a smaller Intercooler, different Exhaust system, and different engine management
programming. Those seeking additional power for their Forester XT can
replace the turbocharger and Intercooler with used STI components
which are readily available. All Forester 2.5 L engines are of the
interference engine type. Subaru Dog Commercial.

needed only six minutes and 11.54 seconds to finish the famed Mt.
