1971 pontiac trans am 455 h.o. 4 speed car
1971 trans am 455 h.o. 4 speed car and after 14 years finally getting around to getting it done, motor is stock with the exception of a ram air iv cam and flowmaster mufflers.
Pontiac 455 duet
The LeMans (on the left) has a mild, non-rebuilt 455 with ported & polished 6X heads, c. 9:1 compression, Edelbrock Performer intake, Holley 800 Street Avenger, Comp XE274 cam, making maybe 300-350 horsepower. The Grand Am (right) has a .030 over 455 with Edelbrock heads (87 cc chambers), 10:1 compression, same Comp cam but with 1:65 roller rockers, slightly better Exhaust (H-pipe), Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and Edelbrock 750 carb. About 500 horsepower at the flywheel. The heads make all the difference. The Grand Am has the Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust system, which has the 50-series mufflers. LeMans has a Summit Exhaust system, which was cheap and went on nice & easy.
1972 Pontiac Trans Am 455 HO Four-Speed Muscle Car
I thought you'd like a look at this 1972 Pontiac Trans Am 455 HO. It's equipped with a 455 V8 that's pumping out 300 horsepower and 415 LbFt of torque. All that power is funneled back through a four-speed manual trans to a posi rear end. This really is one of the last great cars of the muscle car era.
