This is a video a friend and I took of his families 1978 Trans Am, they bought this car as rust bucket pretty much, and completely restored it themselves. The engine is a 455 c.i. V8, posi rear end, 3 speed automatic.

For those of you who like the second generation Trans Ams or just want a piece of classic American automotive muscle, here's a fantastic 1973 Pontiac Trans Am that's in excellent condition. Featuring the numbers matching 455ci V8 that's mounted to the original automatic transmission, this beauty shows 96,877 miles on the odometer and is classic American iron at its best. This '73 Trans Am is also well documented with window sticker and a PHS sheet to show all of its options when purchased new. How many '73 Trans Ams can you find with this much original paperwork? Not many! This baby is a true southern car and still retains all of its original sheet metal. Always a rust free car, the floor pans and trunk are also in great shape.
Lifting the hood reveals the original 455ci V8 that starts up and idles beautifully every time. Numbers match from the carb down to the original automatic transmission. Dual Exhaust with chrome tips that exit out under the rear bumper, give this piece of muscle an awesome, aggressive sound that is sure to turn heads with every stomp of the accelerator pedal. Power steering, power disc brakes, Safe-T-Trac rear differential, and the factory installed handling package which consists of the larger 15" rally (Honeycomb) wheels which are wrapped in near new radial tires and stiffer front and rear shocks. The suspension and all bushings were replaced using only OEM parts and they help give this bad boy one great feeling ride. The air conditioning is even original and has not been converted, yet it still blows cold. Walking around this gorgeous beast shows you the fantastic paint work with its base coat being a color of Cherry Red with multiple clear coats that really highlight the 5 shades of Gold Trans Am decals and Phoenix Bird on the hood.
Opening the door reveals a near flawless interior which sports front bucket seats and center console. Wrapped in black vinyl and with the front driver's seat being the only part that has been recovered, this interior really shows how well this baby has been taken care of. The original in dash AM/FM radio still works along with the original 8-track player. In the back seat you'll discover a case holding some of the best and most desired 8-track cassettes. An interior lamp group was installed at the factory and consists of luggage, glove box and instrument panel courtesy lamps. Sporting the original Formula sport steering wheel along with the Rally gauges which consist of an in dash tach and working clock, this '73 Trans Am has all the options everyone wants in a classic muscle car. 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 5.0 Litre 4 speed - SOLD!
As you probably know, the 3rd generation of Firebirds took flight in 1982 with 3 models including the Trans Am which is the high performance Firebird and was completely restyled, more aerodynamic and that year voted one of the 12 "Best Cars in the World" and also won "Best Sports GT Category in it's price range".
This 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is a great strong running car. Equipped with a 5.0 Litre V-8 OHV, 4 speed, it has approximately 88K miles. Although the paint is a little weak, the interior is very good, the body is straight and it runs GREAT!
There are also T-Tops, the rear end has been replaced with a Camaro 5-speed posi-traction rear end, the power steering pump was rebuilt, the radiator was replaced, the window weather stripping on doors was replaced, there are new front tires, the side shifting plate on transmission was repaired and inspected (Stock Saginaw) and of course the hatchback (which has new cylinders), turbo wheel covers, dual mirrors, rear deck spoiler, heavier suspension package that includes a "quicker" steering ratio, and full instrumentation including speedometer, trip odometer, tachometers, gauges for oil pressure, voltage, fuel level and coolant temp, etc. With the seats laid down, there is also a lot of room for your gear.
