READ: This is the 'skateboard car' that Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Rob Dyrdek set world records for the longest rail slide, 50-50 grind, etc in. Link to that episode - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn-nGl5u7ZY It is equipped with a skid plate on the bottom and various other modifications to that it could slide along the rail. If you haven't seen the episode of Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, I highly recommend watching it! I will try to put up a video link for it. Cross Country in a Gasser 1955 Chevy with a Hemi! - Roadkill Ep. 30
On this episode of Roadkill, it's 2,600 miles, 530 cubic inches, 700 horsepower, six speeds, 17 mpg, and two fun visits with some friends from TV. Last time, on Roadkill Episode 29, we finished our Chrysler-Hemi-powered 1955 Chevrolet gasser in about two weeks of thrashing (it's the same car you saw us take, as a bare shell, to Jim Meyer Racing in Oregon in Episode 8). On this latest episode, we drive it around the block once, then hit the road on a 2,600-mile journey from Los Angeles to the kickoff party of the 2014 HOT ROD Power Tour in Concord, North Carolina. On the way, there's the breakdowns you expect from Roadkill, plus two surprises: a stop at Midwest Street Cars with Justin "Big Chief" Shearer and Shawn "Murder Nova" Ellington from Street Outlaws, and another with Rutledge Wood from Top Gear USA.   The '55 Chevy is based on an original body with new quarters and floors and a fiberglass decklid and tilt front end, and Lexan windows from ProGlass. It's not in primer: the car was wrapped in satin black by Moody from High-Tech Auto Wraps. The car sits on a complete gasser chassis from Jim Meyer Racing with a solid front axle on leaf springs and a ladder-bar setup with Vicking coilovers on the rear. The rear tires are reproduction Firestone piecrust slicks from Coker tire, and the fronts are just like stock VW Bug tires.  The engine is a 530ci Hemi based on a Mopar Performance crate engine. With a Comp solid roller cam, 10.5:1 compression, homemade 2-1/4-inch headers from a Hedman kit, and Hilborn stack injection powered by a FAST XFI controller and Aeromotive fuel system, it makes 700 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. We were stunned to see 17 mpg a few times on the cross-country trip, especially with absurd 5.43 gears in the Ford 9-inch rear axle. The key to it all is the Tremec T56 Magnum six-speed manual double-overdrive trans installed with a conversion kit from American Powertrain. The car uses a Speedwires harness, charging and starting by Powermaster, and a Braille lightweight battery in the trunk. 2015 Lexus NX 200t F-Sport Luxury Crossover Test Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/lexus/crossovers/reviews/2015-lexus-nx-luxury-cros sover-first-drive-and-review-124741/?id=32972 The NX is an all-new model for Lexus which has never had a compact crossover SUV in its line-up. This is not uncharted territory as the RX-line has been one of the best-selling crossovers year after year. The Lexus NX is based on the Toyota RAV4 platform but sources say that this vehicle is 90% different. This crossover does come across as a real Lexus and not simply a rebadged vehicle. Under the hood is a brand new 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-clinder engine that makes 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. This particular model has the F-Sport package which adds unique styling, different wheels, stiffer suspension, tighter steering, Premium LED Headlights, and more. Design wise the NX fits in with the rest of the Lexus Family featuring the unique Spindle Grille up front. Everywhere you look there are character lines to make the NX stand out. The front bumper is aggressive and the rims are very cool indeed. This is certainly a very stylish crossover. Lexus is looking to attract a younger group of consumers. There is no question the distinct styling will attract younger buyers. Another factor is the fact the NX will fill the entry level gap that is missing in the Lexus Line-up. Lethal Performance - Vaughn Gittin, Jr. drifts our new 2012 Boss 302 Mustang
We headed out to Palm Beach International Raceway here in West Palm Beach, FL to meet up with Steve Turner of 5.0 Magazine at Round 3 of the Formula Drift series. While we were there, we decided to hand the keys to our new 2012 Boss 302 Mustang over to 2010 Formula Drift Champion Vaughn Gittin, Jr. We've only had the car for 1 week and are just shy of the 1000-mile mark, so what better way to break it in than to have the powerhouse drifter take it around the course a couple times? Lethal Performance sends a HUGE thank you to Steve Turner of 5.0 Magazine, Susan Pollack of Palm Beach International Raceway, Satcher Motor Company, Monster Energy drinks and, of course, Vaughn Gittin, Jr. When we purchased our Boss a lot of our fans wanted to see something out of the car other than 1/4 mile runs. Although we're going to have to take the car down the track I was definitely open for a change. Some mentioned the road course and a few mentioned drifting. Well this afternoon we broke our car in the way it should be done. We headed up to Palm Beach International Raceway in Palm Beach Gardens FL to meet up with 5.0 Mustang & Super Ford Magazine editor Steve Turner. He was there covering the Formula Drift event that's going to take place at the track this weekend. Not only was he there to cover the event but he was also there for a photoshoot with none other than 2010 Formula Drift Champion Vaughn Gittin, Jr. Funny thing is that on the way up there I noticed a black Ford Fusion behind us in my rear view mirror. The guy driving was wearing a Monster Energy hat. It crossed my mind that it was Vaughn but I didn't think any further of it. As we're on the Bee Line Hwy not far from the track the Fusion passes us and Christy says to me that she thought that it was Vaughn that just passed us. So I pulled up aside them and sure enough it was him and his fiance Abigail on the way to the track. They looked over and gave the thumbs up to us in the Boss and we did the same to them. We get to the track and make our way to the pits. We finally get to the area where Vaughn's trailer and car was and parked the Boss. Within a minute of us getting out Vaughn came over to us, introduced himself and we hit it off right away. Abigail came over too and we all stared chatting. Steve Turner then shows up and we all start talking cars and having a great time. Rewind a bit...Before going up there I had this crazy idea that I ran by Steve which was to see if we could get Vaughn to take our Boss for a drift. Being that I've never met Vaughn before and the fact they were just setting up for the event I had no idea if something like that was even possible. So I called our good friend Susan Pollack who's the director of communications at PBIR and asked her if she could arrange for us to use a section of the track. She said as long as Vaughn was cool with it why not. So as we're standing there chatting I asked Vaughn if he wanted to thrash on our new Boss for a few. Without hesitation he said sure. He asked me what we wanted him to do with it and I told him to drive it like it was his. He replied with something to the effect of " You sure you want me to do that" and laughed. It's on!! He goes and grabs his helmet and asks me if I want to ride with him. Without him needing to twist my arm I said yes and he grabbed another helmet for me. Now I'm in the Boss with Vaughn driving and we're following Susan, Christy and Steve in their car around the road course to the area of the track that she cleared for us. At this point I've got a shit eating grin from ear to ear. I couldn't believe this was happening. We take off and enter the turn at 60mph and we're drifting. The tires are spinning, smoke is everywhere and the G's are pulling me. He's feathering the throttle to keep the car aligned as it swings around the turn. I'm on another planet at this point. The grin is still there. Turn around and head back to the turn. This time at 80mph.. Same thing. Smoke, sliding, tire spinning and we're having a blast. All the time Vaughn was super cool and I felt like I was hanging with one of my good friends. He made it seem so easy. After my ride was done he took Christy for a spin as well and she was even more excited then me as she's a HUGE fan of his. We wrap the drifting up and head back to the pits. Vaughn has to get to a drivers meeting so we said our good bye's and made plans to see each other at the event this weekend. All I can say is WOW!!! What an amazing afternoon. The Boss handled and performed great. Vaughn Gittin Jr. is an awesome dude and I'm so stoked that I not only for to meet him but drift with him in my own car. For this I am thankful. Major thanks to Vaughn Gittin Jr. his fiance Abigail, Steve Turner of 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords Magazine, Palm Beach International Raceway, Susan Pollack, Christy High for being such an awesome and enthusiastic employee and Ford for blessing us with the Boss!!
