Rusty Roof Replacement - 1968 Cougar
If you have an old car that came with a vinyl top, chances are that you have some rust issues in the roof. This was the case with Andrew's car - a 1968 Mercury Cougar that his grandparents bought brand new in '68. In this video, Andrew takes matters into his own hands to replace his rusted roof skin with a solid donor roof from another car. He is by no means a restoration expert, just an amateur trying to save some money and save his car.

1937 Dodge Brothers Business Coupe Classic Car for Sale in MI Vanguard Motor Sales
When I was a kid, my father always longed for an older car that he could drive every day. He liked how cars like this 1937 Dodge Business Coupe looked and didn't care so much about air conditioning and stereo systems. I bring this up because it's all too easy to forget that cars like this Dodge were indeed daily drivers for decades for hundreds of thousands of people, and they worked just fine, day-in and day-out. They don't need modern engines and suspensions to be capable and reliable, and there is definitely a charm to driving a car like this one and getting the experience of what it might have been like when, say, your grandfather bought his first car.
This car is exactly what my father typically had in mind when he set out searching for a driver. A very presentable, straight body, gorgeous interior, and 100% reliable mechanicals, all wrapped in a reasonably-priced package that won't break the bank to acquire. I think a lot of folks forget that part of the fun of having old cars is driving and enjoying them on the road as they were when new. Guys say their modified hot rods drive like ½-ton pickups, but if I wanted something that drove like a truck, I'd drive my truck. What I don't have is a car that drives like a 1937 Dodge, and that's a ton of fun in its own right.
This car received a decent restoration in 2010/11, and has been driven very little since. The body is straight and clean, the floors are solid in both the passenger's compartment and trunk. The fender skirts were a rare dealer option. The body gaps are good all around and there are very few signs of use. There are a few minor repairs of chips in the paint. Overall, this '37 is a tidy, presentable, drivable, showable car that you will be proud to own.
The Dodge Brothers hood ornament and fender shirt emblems have been re-chromed. That ram hood ornament that has been very well restored -- these were often made of a zinc-based "pot metal" that tended to pit and corrode easily, making them incredibly difficult and expensive to restore. The fact that this one looks so great suggests that the restorer spent a lot of money having the chrome repaired and refinished. The bumper guards and trim look fantastic as well. Wide whitewall tires sit at all four corners.
This 1937 Dodge Brothers Business Coupe is equipped with its original flathead six cylinder engine with a single-barrel carburetor, automatic transmission and rear end. The engine in this car spins to life easily using a foot pedal that triggers the starter motor. It idles easily with a pleasant mechanical sound that is sadly absent from today's cars -- it sounds like a precision machine, which is exactly how an engine should sound. The Exhaust is quiet with a distinct sound under throttle, and the muffler looks OEM. The engine bay was restored to a very nice standard when the rest of the car was reworked. New original style wiring, heater hoses and a semi-modern coil were included. The honeycomb style radiator is in excellent condition. The Dodge Brothers badge on the firewall mentions model number 219. The chassis is pretty much as the factory made it. The frame and floors show no signs of rust or damage. New rear brakes and wheel cylinders were put on in 2010.
The interior is another treat. The headliner was replaced in 2011. The upholstery, door panels and carpet show very little evidence of use. The dashboard is steel with a woodgrain pattern painted on it, and the functional gauges look to be original. There is a cooling fan mounted under the dash to the left of the steering wheel to provide a breeze for the driver, as well as a Tropic-Aire system mounted on the passenger side to provide heat. The steering wheel is in beautiful condition, with a Ram emblem inlayed in the center. Out back, the rear window features a functional roll-up shade to keep some of the summer heat out. The massive trunk is solid and in excellent condition.
The really great thing about this car is that you couldn't duplicate a restoration like this for what we're asking for the entire car. It's ready to drive and enjoy, you can take your entire family with you, and it will be a reliable, comfortable runner for years to come. Don't let people tell you that old cars aren't reliable -- they were daily drivers when they were new, my father drove one daily in the 1980s, and cars like this are so simple that keeping them running is pretty much only a matter of putting gas and oil in them. Parts are plentiful and cheap, and there's nothing else that feels like a vintage car like this ambling down the road making its traditional sounds. You might just be surprised by how wide your grin is every time you drive it. Call us today, because I'm betting this one won't last long. Call Tom today 7 days a week 248-974-9513

dump truck at Cabin dumping load.MOV
Dumping a load of about 10 tons of stone getting ready for placing my new steel garage on it. This truck is a 1986 chevy C70 366 big block standard shift 5x2. I bought it in Vermont and restored it. Lately I have been collecting big rigs instead of fast cars. I Must be getting old or something. This rig was very helpful when I did excavating at the cabin. It saved me lots of money in transport fee's when I bought stone and gravel. I also redid the road leading up to the cabin. I collection also consists of two 1970 maxim firetrucks, a 1986 chevy scottsdale in restoration and a 1963 jeep cj5 restored.
1970 Opel GT Restoration
1970 Opel GT restoration. Body was stripped, media blasted, repaired and repainted. All rubber components (bushings, weatherstrip etc.) replaced. Engine rebuilt. Replaced low compression pistons with flat top pistons. Installed ISKY cam, optic ignition, larger intake valves, weber carburetor, and headman husler header. Rebuilt brakes, resealed transmission and differential. ... basically there isn't a single part of this car that wasn't touched.
