Renault has unveiled its new Megane sedan, which replaces the South Korean built Fluence sedan previously sold in Australia without much success. The new sedan follows the brand's design language with its new front end, C-shaped headlights. It also features a glass roof that links the windscreen with the rear windshield. As well as being built on the brand's Common Module Family architecture, the new sedan also features a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 8.7-inch touchscreen which is compatible with the French brand's latest R-Link 2 infotainment system. The Megane sedan gets driver aids such as park assist, emergency braking and lane departure warning as standard. There will be five engine variants, two petrol and three diesel. The petrol variants produce 86kW and 96kW, while the diesel engines produce 66kW, 81kW and 96kW. Petrol variants are paired to either a five-speed manual or CVT transmission in base form, while the higher-spec petrol gets a seven-speed dual-clutch auto or a six-speed manual transmission. Diesel variants are paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch auto.
