First start up of my bored out 400 from 1979 trans am. Now a 406 with comp cams extreme energy hydraulic cam and lifters, roller timing chain and roller rockers. Lightened and balanced Scat crank. Ignition upgraded to MSD HEI with Accel 8.8 mm sprial core wires. 6X-4 heads ported and port matched to ported factory dual plane intake manifold. Factory 750 CFM Quadrajet reworked by Cliff Ruggles performance.

305 TPI with B&K throttle body, Edelbrock hydraulic camshaft, K&N cold air
intake and flowmaster Exhaust.
Sehr Performance Machine / Randi's 400 Pontiac
Randi came to us with a 400 Pontiac project for his 1968 Firebird. He
didn't want to go crazy on the build but he wanted something that would
give him performance that is better than original.
With that goal in mind Scott did some custom porting on his heads, upgraded
his valve train and went with a Custom COMP cam and lifters and aluminum
roller rockers. We maintained his complete original rotating assembly but
had to re-balance his crankshaft, it had been poorly balanced sometime in
the past and was out by 127 grams on one end and 181 grams on the other. A
single plane intake with a 780 Quick Fuel carb got it breathing and the
fire is lit with a Flamethrower ignition package. Custom cut and fitted
8mm plug wires are standard equipment here at Sehr. Headman custom coated
headers will be added at installation time.
The results were a satisfying 543.5 Hp @ 5500rpm and torque reading of
519.8 @ 5400rpm. Corrected to sea level the numbers are 577 Hp and 551 Tq
with nearly 400 lb of torque at 3500rpm.

5.7L V8 engine and a stunning new paint job.
The monstrous hood scoops and huge air vents added to the all black
exterior makes it a very bad-ass looking muscle car beast! The Exhaust sound is pretty awesome too! Enjoy.

406 cid Pontiac engine making 350+ HP and over 400 ft lbs of torque by Tin Indian Performance
This is Mickey Turrin's 406 Pontiac engine on the Dyno. It is pretty much a stock
rebuild using Seal Power pistons, RPM rods, a crower 60916 cam, re-done 6x
heads, Performer manifold and 750 Q jet carb. The engine makes over 13" of
vac at 850 rpm. Engine was rebuilt with Tin Indian Performance gaskets
and seals and is topped off with a set of TIP Billet-TEK aluminum valve
covers. The engine makes 351 horse and 430 ft lbs of torque. Built by Tin

Quadrajet air leak fix and warped air horn repair tutorial.
How to identify a Quadrajet with a warped air horn without diss assembly or
running it on a car. These tips would have saved me time and money which is
why I made this video. I also discus how to repair a warped air horn and
prevent your air horn from warping in the first place. If you have a
whistling noise just off idle then you got some work to do. You will never
get your engine tuned right, your cold start performing or decent fuel
economy unless your four barrel carburetor is just right. Special thanks to
Cliff Ruggles for his book Rochester Quadrajet carburetors and to my
brother Adrian who spent hours on tuning and fitting.

405hp/409hp ratings. Growing up.....Pontiac/Oldsmobile old timers/EXPERTS
who taught me most of what I know, often told me Chevy rated their horsepower in a more
optimistic way than say Oldsmobile or Pontiac. I've even heard Pontiac
rated/tested their engines in a 100 degree room, compared to Chevy in a 60
degree room. These Dyno results seem to reflect
that some of what I heard was true. Both of these engines are great, but
the results do seem to show that Pontiac was not rating their horsepower worrying if it
would cause "songs to be written" about their engines .... like the great
song "She's real fine my 409"--(Chevy).
