Zakspeed Ford turbo Capri beim AvD
Oldtimer GP 2012 auf dem Nürburgring. Peter Zakowski fährt das Original
Meisterschaftsauto von 1981, mit dem Klaus Ludwig damals gewann.
Das Fahrzeug ist mit dem kleinen Motor der Division 2 bestückt mit 1,4l
In beiden Rennen sah Zakowski die Zielflagge wegen technischer Probleme
nicht. Im Rennen 1 bedrängt er Oliver Mathai im Porsche 935 und im Rennen
2 räumt er binnen kürzester Zeit das Feld von hinten auf.
Sowohl nach dem Training als auch nach dem ersten Rennen wurde am Fahrzeug
umfangreich gearbeitet. Der Ladedruck ist noch nicht eingestellt und
deshalb hat P.Zakowski die Hand häufiger mal am "Dampfrad".
Vom turbo Capri wurden insgesamt fünf
Fahrzeuge gebaut. Ein Fahrzeug wurde zerstört, eines zu einem Mustang umgebaut, ein Fahrzeug wurde
von Herbert Stenger bei Bergrennen eingesetzt, ein Fahrzeug baut Stefan
Mücke in Berlin wieder auf und hier eben das 1981er Meisterschaftsauto bei

Partial throttle runs for fuel mapping. Dyno was set to sweep
1000-7000rpm in 18 seconds. Limiter at 6450rpm. Crash at 5400rpm most
likely due bad conrod bearing.

In this video I detail Camshaft Phaser repair on the 5.4l 3v engines but
the procedure is the same for the 4.6l 3v engine.
Torque to 30 ft lbs then an additional 90 degrees.
The crankshaft is always being turned in a clockwise direction until the
last positioning of the crankshaft in which we spin it counter clockwise
Proper positioning of cam lobes for roller follower removal.

A desirable Ford Capri 280 Brooklands build 114 with only 12,037 miles
Body-coloured grille, lamp bezels and door mirrors, bodyside mouldings,

An instant classic the moment it rolled off the production line this very
limited edition Capri 280 is finished in the only exclusive colour
available, Brooklands Green Metallic, (Code T7), and has an almost flawless
paint finish. All exterior trim items and decals are pristine and the
glass is number plate etched. A removable sunroof deflector is fitted and
additional security Yale locks were fitted from new. Correct factory under
bonnet identification plates are intact including the metal plate with the
'Brooklands' inscription. Two minute dings can be pointed out under
correct lighting and the vehicle has never been detailed thus retaining a
desirable factory standard appearance craved by purists and exactly as Ford
intended. Simply breathtaking.
This last-of-the-line models interior is distinguished by seats fully
trimmed with luxurious, high quality Raven leather with Burgundy piping and
are Recaro designs. The deep pile grey carpeting is spotless and the black
perforated headlining is tight and clean along with the leather covered
steering wheel and gear knob, all commensurate with the incredibly low
miles covered. There are absolutely no cracks to the dash and minor
veins/leather fade to the driver seat is barely visible. All controls and
gauges fully function including the two-speed heater fan, analogue quartz
clock and electronic cassette player. The rear parcel-shelf is incredible.
This is a very exclusive and iconic 80's interior exactly true to the
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The Capri 2.8i was entrusted to Fords Special Vehicle Engineering group,
(SVE), who added a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system, an oil/water
heat exchanger, viscous coupled fan and an improved radiator making this
models 158 BHP capable of 130mph and 0-60mph in 7.9 seconds. The engine is
smooth and quiet whilst producing an unmistakable burble and a full
stainless Exhaust system that mimics
the original has been fitted at considerable cost. The 5 speed gearbox is
light and progression through the range is precise.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This 280 Capri is fitted with the factory correct and unique 7-spoke 7X15
inch alloy wheels and have never been refurbished thus showing minor marks.
Michelin Pilot Sport 195/50 ZR50 tyres are fitted and are as new. The
spare has never been fitted and retains the original Pirelli Cinturato P7
tyre. The hydraulic dual-line servo-assisted brakes with ventilated front
discs unique on the 2.8i stop the car quickly and in a straight line.
Coveted by collectors the limited edition Capri 280 is the most difficult
'car you promised yourself' as only 1038 were produced to celebrate the
last of a famous line. GG10972 is build number 114 and has only had two
former keepers from new. The previous owner, Mr Roseby, worked as the
Quality Engineer at Fords Transmission Plant for 40 years and wanted the
very best, lowest mileage 280 Capri money could buy. His standards are
very high and this 12,037 mile example reflects this passion for the best.
