MIR WCF 2011 - T/S Record Evans Tuning 8.98 @ 167 Crash
MIR - World Cup Finals Imports vs Domestics, Nov 5-6 2011. True Street Round 1 qualifying, Jeff Evans ran a record setting 8.98 @ 167mph, first 67mm True Street car to run an 8second pass. Qualified #1, then disaster lost control and hit the wall. Jeff was ok.

This was the 3rd full power pass in the car and it ran 8.98 @ 167MPH. The driver (Jeffrey Evans) reached to pull the parachute release and was not "celebrating" as some have posted. He and MacBook Pro made it out unharmed.
This car set the record for the True Street Class and was the first in the 8's.

3 passes from Eliminations that day, finals ended up being canceled due to multiple breaks and track clean ups. Winners had to split the purse.
Congratulations to New Generation Racing from Puerto Rico, new record holders for 20B rotary engine. I had a chance to check out the car in the pits and it is amazing.

Mike Brown's 7 second Turbo Trans AM Drag Race Crash at 172mph! MIR World Cup 2011
November 6, 2011 at Maryland International Raceway in Budd's Creek, MD.
16th Annual U.S. Army World Cup Finals: Import vs. Domestic.
Mike Brown in his turbo Trans AM during one of the last Elimination Rounds lost control at the finish line and hit the wall, crossed the center line, hit the other wall and flipped over, sliding on his roof several hundred feet before stopping.
Mike appeared to be ok, got out of the car on his own shortly after the video stopped. Hope the car is fixable and we can see it run again next year at this event.
