A 1969 Karmann Ghia that is Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett's first car...he wrecked it..let it set and rust...than restored it to as good as new 20 years later...a very cool car...guy...and story...I am very honored to be able to bring it to you..Check it out!!

Jowett Javelin Restoration
1953 jowett javelin , light restoration..i did the bodywork and my father did the mechanical work and interior trimming !! i,m aware there is a typo in the first line.. javelin not jupiter...ffs a little blurb from my father follows... In 1964 we had two jowetts, a Jupiter and a lovely metallic green Javelin, an ex directors car purchased from my father in law. I used the Javelin to tow a heavy horse trailer. It became very sick so I dismantled it, kept bits useful to the Jupiter and ran Land Rovers for the next 20 years. In 2011 I wanted a project and in July purchased a running restoration from another Jowett member. On the road with a good engine but body and interior were in a poor state. I trailered it from Tyne Tees and garaged it. Next day my son who was a machanic and sprayer for many years looked at it. Was impressed with this "Gangsters car" and stated he would do all welding and spraying. I would do all the mechanical work, scraping, painting and interior. I started on July 19th, cut out and replaced rotted sections on body, sills and doors. After four weeks the son started welding. Seats out, doors off, floor out ( woodworm), new brake pipes, chassis scraped welded and painted, wings painted underneath, new front suspension rubbers, new pinion seal on back axle. By December we were on the turn, new floor in, interior being refurbished, welding finished and body filler being flatted. By mid January the body is almost ready for primer, but the painting will take it beyond the six month limit I had hoped for as it will be primer, isolator, colour then laquer. I have worked daily 9 am - 12 noon with the son popping up one day a week to do the clever stuff. VW Karmann Ghia - TMI Carpet Kit Install - Part 1
I made HUGE progress on the interior of the Karmann Ghia today. I got the heater channel "Y"s welded in, I got the kick panels made, I got the windlace (s) made, I got the windlace retainers striped and painted, I got the rear seat area covered in vinyl and I got a fair amount of the carpet kit from TMI installed.

Very Original 1960 VW Karmann Ghia for Sale

This unique example has only 20k original miles and it still retains the original factory tires from 1960! The interior is original with the exception of new carpet, and the little Karmann Ghia still sports its original 36 hpr engine. Stepping into this Karmann Ghia is like stepping into a time machine. The ivory knobs and the ornamental chrome trim is straight out of the '50s (and 1960 of course). The "whirr" of the engine paints a smile on anyone's face who is lucky enough to hear it. You can be proud driving this beauty no matter what your destination. The paint is not original but the paprika red and white color scheme is. The floor pans look to be original and they are in good shape. At some point there was some body work done to the panels just before the rear wheels. The trunk is nice and the rear quarter panels look to be original and they are in great shape. As you can see from the photos there is some rust around the headlights and in front of the passenger side rear wheel. But the paint and car look great overall, and these areas could be touched up if desired.
