The 2013 ATS, an all-new compact luxury sports sedan intended to challenge the world's best premium cars. Developed on an all-new, lightweight vehicle architecture, Cadillac's entry into the world's most significant luxury car segment goes on sale this summer.
A long, 109.3-inch (2,775 mm) wheelbase and wide front/rear tracks are the cornerstones of the ATS's firmly planted stance, which is enhanced by short overhangs and taut sheet metal that appears to wrap tightly around the tires. Seventeen-inch wheels are standard and 18-inch wheels are available.
Bold vertical lighting elements -- including new LED front signature lighting detail -- as well as illuminating door handles and active grille shutters lend technologically advanced style and function to the ATS. The grille shutters close at certain highway speeds to reduce aerodynamic drag and enhance fuel economy.
A driver-focused interior with integrated technology and crafted materials complements the exterior elements and supports the ATS's driving experience. Everything from the placement of the pedals to the position of the shifter is designed for effortless and intuitive performance driving. Available performance seats have power-adjustable bolsters to optimize lateral support during high-load cornering.
Contributing to the interior's intuitive feel is an instrument panel that wraps into the doors and a center stack in the mid-instrument panel that flows into the center console. LED lighting for the bold gauge cluster enables clear, at-a-glance viewing in all lighting conditions, while ambient lighting accents functional elements of the console and doors.
Real wood, plated metal plating and carbon fiber trim and Cadillac's cut-and-sew instrument panel, console and doors enhance the emotional connection to the ATS. Choices of many interior color themes, each with unique accent trim material, cover a wide range of flavors -- from light, open and warm to black and serious, to bold, technical and sporty.

2013 Cadillac ATS CUE System Demo with Lead Industrial Designer Robert Jablonski

Robert, who has worked on both the Converj and Plantinum concept cars in the past, was gracious enough to give us a demo of the new CUE system found in the 2013 Cadillac ATS. Heck you can even learn a few tricks to help you operate the CUE system more smoothly.
Located in the gauge cluster is a high intensity and high resolution 5.7-inch display. The new 3-spoke steering wheel has a 5-way controller and voice recognition system. As the heart of the CUE system is an 8-inch display and fully capacitive faceplate. The CUE system from Cadillac offers 3 brand new features:
1) Proximity Sensing - As you reach for the large display, the CUE system senses your hand and activates.
2) Capacitive Touch -- This feature is very similar to a table or smart phone in that it allows the user to navigate and scroll via touch.
3) Haptic Feedback -- A little vibration or pulse is sent through the system to your finger that alerts you to the fact you have made a selection.
CUE makes it easy to add favorites, simply drag your favorites up and save. You can save radio stations, addresses, points of interest, contacts, and applications.

The ATS is the latest entry into the luxury sedan market by Cadillac. This vehicle really starts a renaissance of new automobiles products that will be offered from Cadillac over the next few years.
What you notice first about the 2013 Cadillac ATS styling is the vertical headlights, the shape and forms that are the evolution of Cadillac's art and science design theme. The crisp lines, proportions, and overall size of the ATS give it a distinct look compared to the other cars in the Cadillac stable. The ATS offers a number of features on the exterior that are striking and very noticeable. Up front the Cadillac distinctive grille is bold yet elegant. The vertical design headlamps now wrap to the top of the fender.
The 2013 Cadillac ATS is targeted in content, features, price, and execution; to the compact luxury car buyer. Some competitor cars that Cadillac is aiming for are the Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4, and the BMW 3-Series.
