Motes & Williams Twin Engine Dragster 3
The Motes and Williams car was `70 & `71 NHRA World Champion in Top Gas. In
1970 it won the Springnationals and World Finals. In 1971 it won the
Springnationals and U.S. Nationals.I hope you enjoy my current Motes &
Williams footage. This was taken Oct 2001, Mike Newkirk at the wheel. RC
Williams and Greg Cook starting the car and me, I'm behind the camera. I
don't remember, but this was one of the first times the car ran since we

Motes and Williams Twin Engine Dragster KABOOM

Freight Train fires up at 2008 CHRR
Legendary twin engined gas dragster the Freight Train fires up in the pits.
While it doesn't have the cackle of the nitro cars, the "whomp" of 16
cylinders of small block chevy and the cloud of blackie carbon is pretty
awesome...not to mention the engineering feat of linking and synching two
V8s is a neat deal. One of the few gas dragsters that made top fuelers
nervous when running for Top Eliminator.

Last pass had some smoke off the tires near the 330 foot cones, John and I
made some changes in the clutch. Must have gone the right way, no smoke
this run, but notice the black tracking. You see RC Williams behind me as
I'm bring Greg to the line, he's running the tree on this pass. By far,
Greg's best pass in this car, 7.68 at 193.99 Still room for improvement
though, in 1970 this car ran 7.03 at 211.76

actually got a teeny tiny amount of air under the front wheels during the
burnout - that may be a first.
