You need the adapter plates called the "One Inch Set-back" plates. They'll place the engine and trans perfectly so that you can use your original driveshaft without modification. They can be found on eBay for $60 shipped. Dyno 5.3 Home Ported Heads '84 Chevy C10 LS6 Cam 4L80E Truck
I finally got the truck on the Dyno (4 Jan 13) for the "After" Dyno. After the home ported 862 heads with 2" LS1 intake valves, .030" mill and a tune on my 155k mile 5.3L engine with LS6 cam through a 4L80E. There are a couple variables of course (always are). For one the weather was the complete opposite as it was the first time. A lot cooler. Around 55 instead of the 100+. Another is that this was with the tune adjustment. We dont know how lean it was on the first run before the heads. Either way, the truck put down respectable numbers with a baby LS6 cam and the 80e trans. It had an increase of 47rwhp and 55 ft lb of torque. Bringing it to 329 rwhp and 334 ft lb of torque. Thats very close if not right at 400 hp at the flywheel accounting for the hp loss through the 80e trans. No longer running lean. Cool part is that this is exactly where I guestimated it to be. Now I just need to hold back this itch for a larger cam and focus on my turbo LSx 92 Camaro build. I do think that this truck could greatly benefit from a stall on this 80e though. I just have to remember that the purpose of this build is to be a street work truck to tow my Camaro around and not a race truck. LSx Swap Harness How To Simple & Free DIY Standalone on the Test Stand
Showing the cheapest, fastest and easiest way to setup your LSx harness in your swap project. Detailed video of how to make the stock unmodified LS truck harness work by just giving it power in two spots. This method is simple, free and gets the engine running, but it sure isn't pretty. People often ask me how I run the LS motors without modifying the factory harness so I make this quick list of what I do: - First make sure that the VATS (Vehicle Anit Theft System) is disabled in the PCM by having a tuner turn it off when he "Flashes" the PCM. (You may want him to turn off your emissions at the same time.) - Give power to the main fuse block terminal post. - Then give power to pin A9 of the C1 plug of the fuse block. This will be you ignition hot. Thats it. - Make sure that you've given the fuel rail about 58 PSI of fuel and it'll run. I control the starter with a seperate switch or you can just jump the solenoid. --------------------------------------------------------------- To have your VATS removed from your PCM or to just buy another PCM already flashed the way that you want it, "CoolMike222" on eBay sells this service cheap and I know that he's a good trustworthy guy from previous transactions and interactions with him. Here's a link for example. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.... --------------------------------------------------------------- The link below from LT1swap.com shows you a photo to help you find where to give power. http://lt1swap.com/underhoodfuseblock... Now, that's just one example. It's the cheapest, fastest and easiest setup, but also the ugliest setup. To accomplish other harness methods for a cleaner less cluttered looking install, you must not be afraid of reading a wiring diagram. Once you look at it and see where I've told you to give power to, then you can follow that to know where to give power if you chose to run without the stock fuse block. --------------------------------------------------- This is a small universal fuse block that I use when I cut the factory fuse block off for a cleaner look: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CO7I04/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789& creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000CO7I04&linkCode=as2&tag=age0a0-20&linkId=RES XXHZSKECIIWJK ==================================== Need a good quality wrench'n shirt? 1985 GMC truck LS swap start
My 85 GMC truck. I just got it running, 03-09-13, and decided to share a video. The motor is a 2001 5.3 liter vortec out of a Silverado. I've been driving it around the neighborhood until I finish all the little things. It has great power over the old 350. Here is a build thread I made for it: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=554783
