Som sedan hans topp mekaniker Ed China fixar till topp skick, och sedan

My 1999 Saab 9-3 Viggen Stage 3 - Dyno pulls
A couple of pulls of my 1999 Saab 9-3 Viggen on the Dyno today... Dyno Dynamics Dyno aka the "heart breaker Dyno". Put down
226whp/270wtq. Not bad for a car with 190k miles!
For comparison, a Chevy s10 with a v8 350 swap put down around 260wtq and a
V6 4th Gen Camaro put
down 120whp. Needless to say, I was pretty happy with my numbers.
Also, I am still running a stock viggen Intercooler and it was in the high 80's
today. The operator also didn't listen to my instructions about rolling
into the throttle to prevent overBoosting (which then lowers the Boost once the computer recognizes it).
From what I've read online, Dyno Dynamics Dyno's often run 12% to 14%
lower than a DynoJet
Dyno. So if those
numbers are accurate, it probably would have been around 255whp/305wtq on a

~ 700hp Turbo Saab, 312kmh (194mph)
Extreme turbo Saab + 300 kmh
Many viewers have misunderstood this video, so I explain it a little:
-Speed at finish line (1mile/1609m) is measured. Time is not measured.
-First Saab does 1st and 2nd gear with ~half throttle. Second Saab has
limited Boost for 1st and 2nd gear.
- three extra seconds between 0-100kmh typically means ~30meters wasted.
But three extra seconds used in speeds close to 300kmh, means almost
Here is equally powerful RWD cars (if not even more HP's) These RWD's are a
lot faster between 0-150kmh, but
these Saabs are faster from
150kmh-300kmh. You get the point when you compare speeds at finish line.
-A Saab 9-5 driver pushes a little too much throttle @3rd gear and looses
traction. He lifts a throttle and pushes it back, but too much again and
then he gears up 4th, a bit earlier than planned. (optimal is@205kmh).
Earlier that summer I broke one gearbox when pushing too hard on 3rd gear.
With new gearbox and at later event, I drove very gently on first three
gears to avoid breaking it again. I pushed WOT for the first time on 4th
gear @ 190kmh. You can hear it clearly on following video. Engine tone
changes totally around 200kmh. Incar video is from 299kmh pull (at 1 mile
race) Something happened to camera during the run. So I didn't get any
incar video from a 305kmh pull. To see that run from the start line, please
see my other videos.
Here is incar video until camera dies. Start is @1min.
Another special SAAB going to Auction on August 14th at Copper Mountain,
this '91 SPG is from the last year of production. There were only 40
produced in the spectacular Talladega Red during that final year.
Saab 900 turbo on the Stelvio Pass
On August 15th 2010, we drove a MY84 Saab 900 T16 and a MY88 Saab 900 Aero
up and over the Stelvio Pass; also formally known as the 'best driving road
in the world' (Jeremy Clarkson - Top Gear). Besides the fact that we had to
cope with rain, hail and the occasional campervan, it was a delight and the
best day ever spent in an old Saab.
