FIRST DRIVE: PROTON Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing
http://ignition.my/2010/04/08/first-drive-video-proton-satria-neo-r3-lotus- racing/ There was a torrential downpour the evening that Ignition.my had the opportunity to test drive the recently launched Proton Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing. Launched in conjunction with Lotus' return to Formula 1 this year, it really is a very special and very limited edition of only 25 cars. It's a brilliant car, what a performance Proton Satria Neo should be: good spread of power and strong acceleration, fun handling and strong brakes, and aggressive race-refugee styling.

Tengku Djan Drifting Random Stranger's Car @ Batu Kawan
Tengku Djan Ley was one of the driving instructors at the Bridgestone Potenza Driving School event which took place on the 4th of December, 2010 at Batu Kawan Stadium in Penang. After the event was over, some random dude approached the Prince of Drift and asked him if he could drift a few rounds with his car. Tengku Djan, being the super nice guy that he is, obliged and took the guy's crispy clean AE86 Trueno out for a spin, with the car owner riding shotgun. After that, the two of them switched seats so the Prince could give the boy some drifting tips.

Launched just minutes ago, the Proton Satria Neo R3 Lotus Edition is the latest variant to roll out of the carmakers tuning arm, R3. Based on the Satria Neo, the car come with the CPS engine, tweaked to produce 145hp, 20hp more than the normal CPS variant. True to Lotuss principals, the cars weight have been reduced to aid performance, FRP side panels with carbon fiber hood and other lightened parts makes the car 100kg lighter then the CPS variant also. Suspension upgrade was done with the installation of Ohlin suspension set and the front brake system have been replaced with four pot calipers and a bigger and slotted disc from AP Racing. Only 25 will be produced in conjunction with Proton's 25th anniversary. We had a sneak preview of the car at the Proton test track; so get your copy of CBT this weekend for more details.

PROTON SATRIA NEO R3 1.6L
There's no change in the power output of the Satria Neo R3, which is the first R3 model to be built on a production line (incidentally, the hatch is now assembled in Shah Alam); the CPS unit delivers the stock 125 hp at 6,500 rpm and 150 Nm at 4,500 rpm. The suspension has also been left untouched. What it does get is a R3 Design front splitter/lips and rear spoiler, with titanium-coloured side protector mouldings. It also wears R3 Design six-spoke 16-inch alloys, finished in a gunmetal shade, wrapped with 195/50 profile Continental MC5 rubbers. All-round R3 badging completes the exterior work. Inside, the edition gets R3 leather upholstery for the seats, as well as R3 floor mats and a double-DIN multimedia player with navigation. No red-themed contrast accents here -- the interior is pretty much stock, aside from the upholstery. Safety kit is made up of dual airbags and ABS with EBD. Unlike the R3 Satria Neo, which came only in a Fire Red exterior shade with a black painted roof, the Satria Neo R3 is available in three colours, these being Tranquility Black, Fire Red and GTi Silver. The Satria Neo R3 Executive Line MT manual rolls in at RM61,250, with the Executive Line AT version going for RM64,250. Optional R3 upgrades performance upgrades abound, and at promotional prices until the end of the year -- there's a R3 Satria Neo ECU upgrade and full Exhaust system (RM2,841), R3 belt and aluminium pulley (RM315) as well as a R3 lowering spring/suspension set (RM541). Styling items include shoulder line and grille stripe decals (RM140), as seen on the launch examples. For bookings and registrations made by December 31, 2012, the signature R3 side stripe and front grille decal will be included free. There was also a particular Satria Neo R3 example finished in yellow, replete with S2000 side decals to mimic the rally car. As was told, the colour isn't on the palette, so you can't get one yet, but the company is mulling over including it in the shade lineup.

Peugeot 206 GTi vs Proton Lotus GTi - With Richard Hammond
Richard Hammond compares two hot-hatches - the up market Peugeot 206 GTi, and on the lower end of the budget - the Proton Lotus GTi. He tests both car's performance and handling and weighs up both of their pro's and con's to see if price makes a big difference when it comes to performance.

My new baby! The Satria Neo CPS R3
The standard Satria Neo wasn't really much of a looker to be honest. But when Proton finally introduced the CPS (mini little V-tec system) to the Cam-Pro powered Satria Neo, it finally caught my eye. I dreamt about the car for a whole 3 years. Till one day in the end of 2012, Proton had announced the last batch of Satria Neo CPS but this time in the R3 package. 3 years of waiting finally worth. Till now, I never regretted in getting the car. Credits to Astromance for the awesome music used in this video : https://soundcloud.com/h-nsound Music : Humble (Original Mix) by Astromance
