MaX5 Racing - Anglesey April 26th & 27th 2014
Highlights of our 3 races at Anglesey GP International this weekend.
Started 4th in Race 1 and finished in the same position, but had some good
battles amongst the downpours. Race 2 was a non-championship fun race where
I finished 2nd, and this helped give more track time to improve my lap
times for Race 3 - where I also finished 2nd after an epic battle with Car
#65 Amy Barker, last year's champion.
Best bits are at Rocket on the first lap of race 1 at 0:50, a very slippery
encounter with Matt in car #53 from 3:58 onwards, race 2 start at 10:13,
Rob Chilcott grass-tracking at 14:34, race 3 start at 17:09, overtaking at
18:37, 19:18 and 20:00, and then a 10 minute position-swapping tussle with
Amy from 20:50 til the end of the video, which includes overtakes at 23:23,
25:57, 26:33, 27:34 and 29:10.
Hope you enjoy!
Road America - 2003 SCCA Pro Racing Spec Miata Cup
Without the help of a drafting partner, Webb still managed to post a time
that put him 18th on the grid for Sunday morning's race. By concentrating
on smooth driving and consistent lap times, Webb was able to make the most
of the short seven-lap race, finishing in 14th position, right behind San
Dimas Auto Racing teammates Andrew Fernandez and Johnny Kanavas.
5X Racing: NASA Florida Spec Miata Challenge Race Highlights from Sebring
In this video you ride co-pilot with Team 5X Racing driver John Adamczyk in
his #25 1991 Mazda Spec Miata as he starts last place and claws his way
through the field during the NASA Florida Spec MIata Challenge Race at
Sebring International Raceway on October 2nd 2010. We edited out the boring
stuff, which is not much, and highlight an action packed Spec Miata race
for your enjoyment! If you are a fan of Spec Miata racing, or Miata

MaX5 Racing - Croft - 28th April 2013 - Mazda MX-5 Mk1
An overview of my weekend at Croft - I don't know the track very well (only
done one truncated, sessioned track day previously) and it showed, didn't
feel comfortable in the car and despite having reasonable pace couldn't
string together consistent laps, qualifying 5th in class and finishing 4th
in both races.
Conditions were a bit slippery at times with some patchy light rain, but
this just kept it interesting :)
Is the Mazda MX-5 Any Good? - /CHRIS HARRIS ON CARS
Chris Harris has been known to not like the Mazda MX-5, even calling it
dirty words in an article a few years back. Now he gets to support his
point by swapping his Ferrari 599 with Cameraman and Editor Neil Carey's NA
Mazda MX-5. Was Chris wrong a few years ago?
2013 BRSCC Mazda MX-5 championship Meeting 2 Croft
The BRSCC Mazda MX5 Championship season continued at Croft Circuit on the
weekend of 11th/12th May 2013. This was the first of 3 triple-header events
that are scheduled this season. It was great to see 32 competitors make
their way up to Croft and was a further indictment of the BRSCC
Championship being the best supported Mazda MX5 for Mark 1 cars in the UK.
A single qualifying session decided the grids for the opening race on
Saturday with the results of the preceding race forming the basis for the
grids for both races held on Sunday. All qualifying sessions and races were
for 20 minutes in duration.
Saturday was cold and windy and whilst Sunday morning started with bright
sunshine, both races on Sunday were held in wet conditions.
Oulton Park Track Day 8-7-14
The last session from yesterday's track day at Oulton, shaking down the new
car after a full rebuild following a coming together with the armco at
Cadwell a few weeks back!

KBB Races a Mazda Miata - Part 1: Skip Barber Race School
A few months back Kelley Blue Book got the crazy idea to go spec racing in
a Miata. With a little guidance from some smart folks at Mazda our first
step in preparing for fender-to-fender racing was to send our driver, KBB's
Micah Muzio, to Skip Barber's 3-day Mazda MX-5 Race School. In this, the
first of a 3-part series, Micah learns the ins and outs of driving on a
race track and what it takes to win behind the wheel of Mazda's popular

Mazda MX5 GT Race Car Build
See the Mazda MX-5 GT race car being built for the Britcar MSA British
Endurance Championship race series 2011.
Mazda is set to challenge Aston Martin, Porsche, Lotus, and BMW on the race
track with its lightweight Mazda MX-5 GT entry in the Britcar MSA British
Endurance Championship 2011.
Weighing in at just 850kg, the Mazda MX-5 GT race car will accelerate from
0-to-60mph in just three seconds and hit a top speed of 160mph. The build
of the car has been an engineering challenge to get the weight as low as
possible using Mazda's gram strategy as the inspiration. Jota Sport
examined every nut and bolt to reduce component weight and then match the
power to the weight to give the lightest and most powerful MX-5 ever built.
An important aspect of the build was to ensure the Mazda MX-5 still remains
true to its roots: great handling, huge fun-to-drive and the ability to
challenge bigger more powerful competition, but at an affordable cost. The
Mazda GT car ticks all those boxes and is now set to demonstrate its
challenger spirit on the track.
Jota Sport, the race engineering team that will run the cars in the 2011
series, took 400 hours to build the shell to a specification that ensured
it was 17 times stronger than required by the FIA. During the development
they faced a number of engineering challenges such as suspension
adjustments, integrating the six speed sequential gearbox, and lowering the
engine. Weight saving strategies such as, the removal of interior
components, reducing component weight and dipping the shell in acid lost
15kg from the MX-5 race car.
