Joel Nystroms 67 Hemi GTX makes a test pass At the 2010 F.A.S.T. Summer
Nationals. Shifts late and hits the 7500 RPM rev limiter. Woops.
This is the most recent chapter of the famous Hemi vs. Buick shoootout,
with the added twist that the winner of Hemi vs Buick squares off against
an L88 Corvette. The shootout was hosted by Hot Rod Magazine, and was run
at Cordova IL in 2006. The cars are required to be compliant with stock
appearing rules as defined by the F.A.S.T. Musclecar racing series
(www.fastracesorg), with the exception of racing slicks being allowed.
A 1/4 mile ride in Joel Nystroms Hemi 4 speed GTX
Mike Kamm sat in the back seat of my 67 Plymouth GTX, an original 30,000
mile Hemi 4 speed car, while I carefully baby it down Norwalks 1/4 mile
dragstrip. This pass was run on original style G70-14 bias ply tires, so
there was tire spin. Thats why I had to back pedal a little in 1st and the
shift light never went off in 2nd. I had the light set to come on at 6500
rpm, but wasn't shifting untill 7000. This was a mid 11 second pass at
about 124 mph.

1967 GTX Survivor vs Corvette
Unrestored 1967 440 GTX drag racing for the first time in 38 years. This
1967 440 4 speed Plymouth GTX was stored in a warehouse in 1973. I
purchased it in 1998 and was the first person to drive it on the road since
'73. I put it in a shed awaiting restoration 9 years ago. On the day this
video was taken (October 30, 2011) it literally had dirt dauber nests and
cob webs still in the engine compartment.
