WORLDS FASTEST AWD / 4G63 DATSUN / 20B RX7 IN TESTING
Willowbank Raceway held the 1st of the 2012 Top Sportman Series on the weekend. Reece McGregor and the Heat Treatments Skyline thought it would be a good chance to have some test runs in their worlds fastest RB26 powered 4wd skyline. The team worked hard all day and were rewarded with a final pass or 7.64, not far off their 7.56 record, although something tells me theres plenty more to come from this car again.
Another car using the test lane was Rob Novak in his Jett Racing 4G63 powered Datsun 1200. The team made adjustments through the day and saw a PB 7.35 @ 187mph on the second last pass of the night, the final wild pass on video then saw a transmission failure but a happy team none the less.
Final team testing was the Direct Clutch/Promodz Rx7, the car is 3/4 chassis and a running 3rotor 20BT tweaked by Mazfix. The team recently made adjustments in the rear and also in transmission and are starting to see results, it ran a 7.99 @ 171mph through the day, then later in the night suffered a leaking Boost pipe. Owners Jerry and Dan tell me they havent even started to push the motor yet, so another car with plenty more to come, and im sure that pb 7.80 will soon be slashed.
These cars should all be running at the up and coming Sydney Jamboree at WSID and by the looks of things have some unfinished business they want to take care of :)

PB 7.19 @ 190 ROB NOVAK - 2L 4G63 DATSUN (TEST DAY 1/09/2012)
Jett Racing had their Datsun 1200 Ute out today doing some testing for the upcoming Jamboree. The car behind driver Rob Novak, has only been getting faster lately and smashed out a personal best 7.19 @ 190mph on the final run of it's day. The transmission was then removed and put in team owner, Collin Willshire's 2L 4G63 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Collin ran Australia's first 6 second 4 cylinder pass with a 6.98 @ 197mph but sadly was not captured on my camera :( We will make sure we get the next one. You can see both cars at the QLD Jamboree on September 22nd and 23rd.

4 ROTOR TURBO BMW [Queen St Customs]
This is the only footage so far of the famous Queen St BMW 26b Quad rotor turbo drag car. It was running a little off, but managed a 7.74 @ 188mph. I believe this was one of the first quad rotor turbo drag car's in the world, but im sure someone can give us more info on that in the comments section! (Filmed by Craig Melbourne)

Mark Jacobsen was out doing some testing for Jamboree this weekend. He managed to match his PB 6.84 on the 2nd run and was more then happy with the 2 passes in the lead up to this weekend's Jamboree.

CRANKWALKED? 7-bolt teardown 1080HD

Here's the 48,000 mile-old 7-bolt I blew up this summer after over 150 drag passes, a half dozen Dyno sessions, 4 transmissions, 3 clutches and 10 years of hard all-weather use. The cleanliness of the crankcase and overall lack of carbon buildup is a testament to the quality of Mobil1 Synthetic oil.

I Begged and pleaded that it not be that way,
But it didn't want to start and run another day.
I kissed it goodbye, because the motor punched its ticket
I got out my camera, said "I might as well kick it."

Is this what the rumor of crankwalk is like?
Hmm this won't be alright
But wait I heard knocking, grinding and all that
Is this the type of failure that should happen to this cool cat?
I don't think so, I'll see when I get there
I hope they're prepared for this video I share.
Well I pulled all the bolts and when I came out
There were chunks in my fluids in the pan and they drained out
I aint trying to get depressed cause I got all my spares out.
I sprang into action like lightning disassembled
I whistled while I worked and my hands never trembled
The 7-bolt was FRESH with the shine like a mirror
If anything I can say this bling was rare
What I saw inside the engine stained my underwear.
I turned off the air compressor 'bout 7 or 8
And I yelled to crankcase "Yo holmes, smell ya later"
I looked at my internals they were finally there
To sit on my workbench and stink up the air.

Wild Ford XR6 turbo!
Welcome back to the track Karman. After a 4 year absense the Ford XR6 turbo awoke first pass off the trailer. The Falcon is still a full weight car with electric glass and factory interior. Quickest pass for the day was an easy 9.0 at 151mph. The 4L turbo six is now using E85 fuel.

50psi boost 1200+hp Nissan RB30 - Ethanol E98
Nissan RB30 SOHC 3L engine built and tuned by JPC making over 1200hp on Ethanol fuel. The engine still retains a factory block and crank. Improvements come from a custom JPC turbocharger, manifolding, roller rockers and cam gear. Fuel is fed via ID2000cc injectors and an Autronic computer system.
This engine has previously run 8.79 at 160.25mph (with less power) in a full weight (3250lb) Holden VL commodore through stock suspension, Powerglide transmission, 9in rear end and 28x9in slicks.
