Round 1 Formula Drift Streets of Long Beach
Justin Pawlak in the Falken Tire Ford Mustang earns the victory at the first event of the 2012 Formula DRIFT season. Daijiro Yoshihara in the America's Tire / Falken Nissan 240SX takes second place while Formula DRIFT rookie Daigo Saito, in the Achilles Tires / Bridges Racing Lexus SC430 rounds out the podium.

Climb - Pikes Peak Hill Climb with a Monster
Ride on the bumper of a screaming 910hp, Twin-turbo, All-wheel Drive, 150 mph Suzuki SX4 as it races up one of the world's most dangerous hills. An attempt by the "Monster" to break his own record of 10:01:41... COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (June 29, 2010) -- For the fifth consecutive time, Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima combined experience, skill and Falken Tires to claim overall victory in the 88th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Although he did not set a new Pikes Peak record, one day before his 60th birthday, Tajima continues to hold the current overall record for reaching the peak, beating hill climb veterans Paul Dallenbach and Rhys Millen in the Unlimited Class. He drove his new 910-hp Monster Sport Suzuki SX4 Hill Climb Special on Falken WildPeak A/T tires, the powerful new line of all-terrain, all-season tires Falken launched this past April. Following Exhaustive tests in a Japanese wind tunnel facility, Monster's 2010 Pikes Peak race car underwent extensive aerodynamic changes to better adapt to the modified road surface on the race to the clouds, which assumed a smoother tarmac and less gravel than last year. Thinning air ascending the mountain robs most motors of their power by 30 or more percent, but the increase in horsepower over last year's race car helped push the driver forward.

2010 Formula Drift Round 3 - Falken Takes 1st and 2nd at New Jersey
FONTANA, CA -- Team Falken's Daijiro Yoshihara scored his second victory in a row at Round 3 of the Formula Drift Championship in New Jersey. Dubbed "The Gauntlet", Wall Speedway is known for its unforgiving course layout and harsh banked turn to in-field transition. For Falken, although a repeat of 2009's Wall podium sweep was just narrowly missed, a Déjà Vu top 2 finish from this year's Round 2 at Road Atlanta set Yoshihara and Vaughn Gittin Jr. once again on top of the podium with very close one, two finish. Vaughn in the ASD built Monster Energy / Falken Tire 2011 Ford Mustang continues to lead the series followed by Dai in his Discount Tire / Falken Tire Nissan Silvia S13 built by SPD Metalworks. Darren "D-Mac" McNamara fought hard for third position but that achievement was cut short by two time Formula D Champion, Tanner Foust. The only feat more astonishing than the battle with Foust was the fact that the vehicle even made it to the starting line! During Top 4 competition running against Yoshihara, Darren drifted off line and made contact with the immoveable guardrail causing damage that required major suspension component replacement both front and rear. "I've never seen this team work harder" said Jonathon Bradford, Falken's Drift Team Supervisor. "Every hand available was frantically helping to get the Sky back on track. It was a team effort like I've never seen." Other notable accomplishments include Justin Pawlak's 4th place qualifying and Top 8 finish, Ross Petty's 6th place qualifying and Top 16 finish and Tyler McQuarrie's door-to-door battle with current championship points leader and Falken team mate, Vaughn Gittin Jr. during the Top 16 rounds. "It's always hard when two of our team members are going head to head but we always tell our drivers, may the best man win" declared Andrew Hoit, Falken's Director of Marketing. So far, Team Falken has claimed back-to-back first and second place finishes and five podiums in three events, including all three wins. "This season is still far from over, but our team's determination is at an all time high" said Nick Fousekis, Falken's Sr. Consumer Marketing Manager. "Couple focus and perseverance with world-class partners/supporters and a product like Falken Tire, and you get a winning combination" Fousekis added. The Azenis RT-615K clad Falken Team continues on to Round 4 of the championship in Monroe, WA July 9-10 at Evergreen Speedway. Additionally, Falken played host to 175 dealer guests who participated in the company's hospitality, as Team Falken's aggressive marketing program, hospitality rig and factory support trailer were in full use during the two-day event.

2009 Formula D Round 1 - Long Beach
falkentire.com Music: Beyond Paranoia by Jon Dal LONG BEACH, CA The inaugural event in the 2009 Formula Drift season began on the famed street course of Long Beach where Team Falken faced a very competitive field of works drivers and privateers and successfully qualified eight cars in the top 32 tandem competition, a new component to Formula D this season. This is the 4th year Formula Drift has competed on the tough track that was previously the domain of open wheel racing. However, the increasing popularity of drifting, especially in Southern California, has prompted its addition to the track for a dedicated weekend. It also was the perfect location for Team Falken to debut its new team which consists of veteran member Vaughn Gittin, Jr., driving his brand new 2010 Ford Mustang; Daijiro Yoshihara in his Discount Tire Lexus IS350; Tyler McQuarrie with his Nissan 350Z Convertible; Calvin Wan, competing in a Nissan S15 Silvia; and Darren McNamara, returning in his Sears Auto Center Saturn Sky. Considering four out of our five team vehicles are completely new builds to our team, we had a very successful first showing, declared Nick Fousekis, Senior Consumer Marketing Manager, Falken Tire. This accomplishment truly is a testament to our drivers skill, our vehicle builders capabilities, the Azenis RT615s performance and Falkens dedication to the sport of drifting. After the final session, overall standings had Gittin, Jr., tied for 6th; McNamara stood in 10th; Yoshihara finished at 18th; and McQuarrie tied with his Falken teammate Wan in 19th. All Team Falken drivers used the lightweight and high-gripping Azenis RT615 line. This was a great start for our expanded program as we launched our new consumer activation area and our VIP hospitality tent, stated Andrew Hoit, Director of Marketing, Falken Tire. We rolled out our new display, which was the largest in the pit area, underscoring our commitment to Formula Drift. And while we would have liked to have taken the top rungs of the Long Beach competition, we are confident we will in the very near future. Additionally, results of privateers competing on Falken Tires included Taka Aono, Toyota Corolla; 5th; and Ross Petty, Nissan S15 Silvia, who also tied for 19th, along with John Russakoff, in a Toyota Corolla. Among the action over the two days, McNamara lost a hard fought top 16 battle to Tony Brakohiapa, and Gittin, Jr., endured a tough tandem match against eventual second-place finisher Samuel Hubinette in the Great 8 session. To kick off Falkens comprehensive marketing program tied to its expanded motorsports efforts, Dai Yoshihara helped give away a special Falken-Americas Tire guitar to James Warner, a member of the U.S. Coast Guard stationed in San Diego. Additional promotional items were handed out by Falkens new group of Spokesmodels who attracted a large crowd throughout the two-day event. Guests of Falken were treated to the companys new hospitality section. The full complement of activation area, hospitality rig and factory support will travel to all seven rounds this year. Team Falken will next compete in Formula D on the proving ground at Road Atlanta, May 8-9. Prior to Round 2, rigorous vehicle testing will take place for all Team Falken drivers.

FORMULA DRIFT FIRST EVER SEMI TRUCK DRIFTING EXHIBITION

Watch as Sam in his competition Dodge Challenger and Mike in his Big Rig do drift donuts around each other! You'll also meet a very special kid named William Klopper who is battling cancer and goes for a ride in the big truck! Pikes Peak 2011 near miss
Ralph Murdoch's 1970 Camaro drifted out of the normal line and nearly went off the road. His back tire was in the loose stuff when he gunned it spraying me with dust and gravel. The only casualty was a chipped camera lens and mouthful of dirt, but no one was hurt and Murdoch went on to win the vintage class with a time of 12:51.004. What you can't see from the video is that this is in an S-curve and the other cars were hugging the apex on the other side of the road from me. I was joined at this spot throughout the day by other seasoned photographers and even a race official said it was a safe spot to shoot. But like any rally event, anything can happen. If you still feel the need to comment and tell me how much you wish I was dead, knock yourself out.
