Giant Scale (122 in) F4U Corsair with Radial Engine - Warbirds & Classics 2015
This is my first in my series of videos from The Scale Squadron's Warbirds & Classics 2015 RC event at the Black Starr canyon RC field. It was a great time at a beautiful venue with a ton of really cool and large warbirds. This video features a 122" wingspan Corsair scratch built from a Don Smith plan. It had all the bells and whistles with panel lines, rivets, the works. In addition, it had a 5 cylinder Moki 250cc radial engine in it which sounded amazing! Thanks for watching, please subscribe as I have more videos coming! Also, I have full event coverage article on my blog (http://wp.me/p5LuFX-aZ). ▼HELP SUPPORT THIS CHANNEL▼ Shopping through the following links helps support this channel! F4U Corsair "Whistling Death" Flight Demonstration !
This is a compilation of clips of the Planes of Fame Museum's Corsair (Chino, California) and includes some clips of the Palm Springs Air Museum's own Corsair. Man, this thing just scoots, BIG TIME! Wow, just awesome! Listen to the 2,000 horsepower generated by the 2,800 cubic inches of the supercharged, 18 cylinder Pratt & Whitney R-2800! You'll see during the flybys why the Japanese called this fighter the "Whistling Death." This aircraft just leaps off the runway in just a few seconds, and remember, the manifold pressure used today for takeoff with 100-octane low-lead fuel is not anywhere near what could be used with the wartime, 130-octane+ fuel. Very impressive!
