G16A Sierra - first startup
This is a carby G16A/G13BA hybrid (Vitara/Baleno G16 bottom end with the G13BA head). This is the first time I started her. Was a little unsure whether the dizzy was out by a tooth which is why I was rotating it to feel for a smoother idle. Now that she's running will get the timing light onto her to set it correctly.
EDIT: Carb needs a rebuild - hence why she sounds like she's got a lumpy cam lol :P
Tony and Gillian Argentino - The Hitman - blown alcohol Chev
Tony and Gillian Argentino's 1936 Chev drag racer is known as "The Hitman", and is a theme car that represents history from America, which now resides in Perth, Western Australia. With its curvy shapes and vivacious body, the car represents beauty, charm and character, all whilst the tough supercharged and injected alcohol burning engine provides power for the machine.
Recent testing of the car got Tony familiar with all of the levers and buttons, and the crew kept the car working good enough through two successive race days and acquired several personal best times along the way. When testing a car of this caliber, power and driver need to familiarize and adjust, and the team was exceptional in achieving what they have in just three outings.
Hitman Racing is also heavily involved off the track where Gillian takes care of marketing the car. She has been involved with the establishment of Supercharged Outlaws in Western Australia, and more info and merchandise is available from http://www.superchargedoutlawswa.com.au
Tony has been racing on and off since he was 17 (23 years) starting in street, then modified until Outlaws started in WA and is best known for their previous car, a 1934 Ford 3 window coupe altered. This Hitman car was purchased from Terry Hall of Terry Hall Race Car Bodies in Vermont USA. It was running Pro-Mod and the Super Chevy series and has a best time of 6.30 @ 220mph. The Argentino's purchased the car as a roller, and are using the engine and gearbox from their old '34. The car is a 1936 Chevy Master (carbon fibre), it has a chrome-moly chassis, 442 cubic inch Chevy (iron block) and the engine is built and maintained by Tony. Induction comes from a 14-71 Littlefield hi-helix retro Supercharger, it has an FTC converter and 2-speed Powerglide, and the rear end is a Mark Williams modular rear with Strange Ultracase 4.56 gears and 40 spline axles.
Tony and Gillian would like to thank all of the crew for their help, Kwinana Performance for parts and the hands on effort of the Boss and staff who also double as Crew. Graham, Jan and Neil from Southside Engine Centre, FTC Race Converters for looking after the converter and gearbox, Spud at DJW Engineering for making all the nice mods to get the running gear to fit and making nifty things as needed. Fuchs Oils for supplying the oils and race fuel, Genie Exhaust, and The Moving Man Removals.

DPI Racing Products Platinum Track Differential Overview
THE NEW PLATINUM TRACK DIFFERENTIAL
www.dpiracingproducts.com 707-283-4374
This all new pre-load design will withstand the punishments of today's horse power and technological advances. Unsurpassed quality and performance will take you to the winner's circle. The newly designed Platinum Track will leave the competition in the dust. Developed by racers, for racers - it is specifically engineered to hold-up under the most extreme conditions.
WHAT IS THE PLATINUM TRACK AND WHAT DOES IT DO?
The Platinum Track is a torque bias gear driven differential, developed specifically for racing.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH A SPOOL OR LOCKER?
In a turn, a spool drives the front of the car straight toward the wall (a push). A locker provides some differential action entering a turn, but as soon as power is applied, it locks up and is no better than a spool. With the rear wheels locked together, the only way to make the car turn is with stagger. Stagger is at best a compromise - just ask anyone who has lost a race when their stagger went away.
WHAT IS THE PLATINUM TRACK'S ADVANTAGE OVER A LOCKER?
The Platinum Track torque bias differential allows a car to turn easily into and roll freely through the turn
- it never locks up when power is applied. This is due to the gears used, not springs or clutches, to direct the power to the wheel with the most traction.
HOW DOES THE PLATINUM TRACK WORK?
The axles are connected to the ring gear by special spiral gears that are made in such a way they sense which tire has the most resistance (traction) and smoothly delivers power to it. The gears operate on the same principle as a steering pinion: you can turn the steering shaft easily, but not the steering arm. The tire with traction instantaneously receives power in direct relation to the amount of traction. For instance, there is no notchiness or "hunting" when accelerating offer a corner: the power goes down smoothly.
WHAT MAKES THE PLATINUM TRACK UNIQUE?
The axle gears have a preload on them. What does this mean to the racer? You can drive in deep, and not have the loose entry feel of most open, or non-loaded differentials. The preload is factory set, however, it is fully adjustable by the racer, if more of less is desired. The Platinum Track with the correct amount of preload will let you roll through the center of the corner with greater speed and your exit speed will also be faster. All of this is possible with less stagger, no more dragging excessive stagger down the straight away scrubbing off speed and tires.
