LeMons Car Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway (Sept. 24, 2011)
I attended the 24 Hours of LeMons race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on
Sept. 24, 2011, and had a lot of fun. I recorded hours and hours of video,
but boiled it down into this 5.5-minute video. I was there to watch my
brother (Joe Kovacs), who raced in the #71 car (a 1985 Mazda RX7), so there
is a bit of a focus on that car. However, I think it does a decent job of
giving the general flavor of the race.
I shot this with a Canon Vixia HF-S30 camcorder and used a GoPro HD Hero
for the on-car shots. I edited it with Corel Video Studio Pro x4 and did
the whole project in the AVCHD format.

Road Race-T: 1927 LeMons Racer - /BIG MUSCLE
• Dennis "Fish" Newman / Dave Schaible
It's got a 5.0L engine out of an old Ford Mustang, the front end off a Pinto
and a frame that's almost 100 years old. The Road Race T is the creation of
Dennis Newman and Dave Schaible and was constructed to compete in the 24
Hours of LeMons, a 24 hour endurance race where the original purchase price
of the car can be no more than $500.00. It's small, light and thanks to
its amazingly talented builders, has the ability to put the hurt on the
majority of its competition.
24 Hours of Lemons in a 1973 Plymouth Fury! - Roadkill Ep. 22
On this episode of Roadkill, Freiburger and Finnegan attack the low-buck
endurance race called 24 Hours of Lemons. Not content do do this ridiculous
race in a reasonable car like a little handling-oriented import, the race
car of choice is a one-owner '73 Plymouth Fury that Freiburger bought for
$200 before setting it on fire a few times and then gutting it into a race
car. The truth behind the scenes of this episode is that much of it was
shot almost a year ago, and back then the guys didn't want to air it.
You'll have to watch to see why. But now, in 2013, the story came full
circle in a way that it only can on Roadkill, and so here we finally
present the whole story.
Roadkill appears every fourth Friday on the Motor Trend channel.
