1970 Buick Wildcat, Convertible, 455 V8, Rust Free, FOR SALE!!
1970 Buick Wildcat, Convertible, 455 V8, Rust Free, FOR SALE!
This is a rust free Wildcat Convertible (Body Style 67) with the 455 V-8 and 83k miles since new. This is an incredibly rare Wildcat Convertible with the highly desirable matching numbers 455 cu in big block V-8 with Rochester four barrel carburetor. 1970 was the last year for the Buick Wildcat and was the only year for the formidable 455 V-8!
This is likely that out of only 1,244 Wildcat Convertibles only about 200 were made in this configuration since the vast majority of the Wildcats were specified with the 350... and what a difference the big block makes!
This example is presented in Signal Red and has seen one average quality repaint since new. The coachwork has a few minor "door dings" and other imperfections but overall is in good condition and the paint finish is quite serviceable. We thoroughly examined this for bondo and rust and found the body to be in very good condition with no signs of rust or significant body damage. Overall this motorcar can be presented at local car shows but in not a concours contender.
The interior is a combination of original and new replacement. There are a couple of dash pad cracks and minor imperfection but overall the interior is in good condition and very serviceable as is. The top is newer and in very good condition. The chrome is in good to excellent condition. This example is also equipped with factory air conditioning that is presently not operational.
The '70 Wildcats went out with an all new 455 cid V8, rated at 370 hp and a pavement pounding 510 lb-ft of torque. This new 455 engine had a 10:1 compression ratio, a cast iron block, hydraulic lifters, five main bearings, and a four barrel carburetor. This drivetrain provided performance of 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 126 mph! Unfortunately while at the top of it's performance peak, the Wildcat's sales dropped considerably and the Wildcat was dropped completely from the Buick line-up.
This example was sold new in Arizona in March of 1970. It remained in Arizona except for a brief stint as part of a collection in Ohio (although we are uncertain whether the car ever left the state). It is presently in excellent mechanical condition as it has accumulated about 2,000 miles in the last few months!!
This motorcar is in good condition overall and can be used for extensive touring, car shows or as a daily driver!!
