2010 Kawasaki Z1000 vs Triumph Speed Triple review

The new 2010 Kawasaki Z1000 is the first Japanese naked that can really call itself 'super' and take the fight to the European big hitters like the Ducati Streetfighter, KTM Super Duke or MV Agusta Brutale. But the daddy of them all is the Triumph Speed Triple. Watch the video to find out if the Z1000 has what it takes to take on the top dog.

Akrapovic adds more power to Kawasaki Z1000
Watch this exclusive MCN video below to see the fitting of a full Akrapovic Exhaust to my long term test Kawasaki Z1000, which not only dropped loads of weight off the bike but also gave another 11bhp. The Kawasaki Z1000's stock Exhausts are the only 'Marmite' part of the bike, judging by MCN readers' comments, which range from 'distinctive' to 'minging'. But love 'em or hate 'em, you can't get away from the fact they are bloody heavy. Just how heavy was revealed when I took the bike to Dave Cooper Racing in Kettering (01536-519200).

2010 Kawasaki ZX-10R flat-out!
Kawasakis ZX-10R has been updated for 2010 with cosmetic changes to the silencer and fairing, revisions to the gearbox and, rumour has it (although its denied by Kawasaki) changes to its ECU and fuelling. But how much of a difference does it all make? To find out, MCN Senior Road Tester Adam Child is currently at Bruntingthorpe proving ground speed testing a new 2010 ZX-10R against an old 09 ZX-10R to exactly measure any differences, and the results are surprising.
