With their special structures, the LED headlights generate unmistakable graphics, day or night. Two three-chip LEDs per unit generate the low beams. They are installed in separate chambers in the upper section of the headlight. Next to them are the high beams, which likewise comprise three-chip LEDs and a free surface reflector system. The turning light, the all-weather light and the highway light round out the system.
Audi's New OLED Lighting Technology At CES 2013
Audi have long led the way in car lighting design and technology and now
they're pushing the boundaries even further. With laser beams, OLED
lighting clusters and their distinctive 'OLED swarm' prototype they're set
to continue to lead the competition.
The new laser technology is a safety device designed to make the Audi more
visible to following drivers in foggy conditions. Projecting a distinctive
triangular beam of light behind the car, it allows drivers to see exactly
where the source of the beam is coming from and brake more quickly.
Audi's OLED technology is the next step from their LED lighting. It uses
even less energy than LED lighting and offers more possibilities, such as
animated turn signals and complex 3D shapes.
Finally, the OLED swarm shows just how far Audi can go with this new
technology. Will we see it in production? Who knows, maybe it's not that

BMW Intelligent Headlight Technology: Long Version.
First introduced on the new BMW 7 Series (July 2012) as part of the
optional Adaptive LED Headlights, this functionality is now also supported
with Xenon headlights on all new BMW 3 Series Saloon and Touring models
specified with a Visibility package.
BMW Adaptive Headlights are combined with BMW High-beam Assistant
technology to provide an intelligent headlight system that optimises the
illumination of the road ahead without glaring on-coming traffic and other
road users. This ensures improved visibility and safety during night time
and poor weather driving conditions.
2015 Audi S8 - Matrix LED headlights
With 380 kW (520 hp), the S8 is Audi's big sports sedan. Paired with
quattro all-wheel drive, its sonorous 4.0 TFSI accelerates the S8 from 0 to
100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 4.2 seconds. Average fuel consumption for the S8 is
just 10.1 liters per 100 kilometers (23.29 US mpg), corresponding to 235
grams CO2 per kilometer (378.20 g/mile). The COD system plays a key role
here, too. Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), a technology that is also used
in the A8 4.0 TFSI quattro, the A8 L W12 quattro and the A8 hybrid, uses
precise antiphase noise to compensate for intrusive noise in the cabin
while operating on four cylinders while active engine mounts dampen
vibration. The chassis and many body details reflect the sporty positioning
of the S8.

Audi LED Lighting Technology
In lighting technology, Audi is driving progress at high tempo. Today, its
xenon plus-and LED headlights already provide excellent illumination of the
road and give the cars with the four rings an unmistakable look. In the
future, vehicle lighting from Audi will react even more precisely to
environmental conditions, and it will feature full electronic control. The
first step in this direction will be taken this year in the form of
innovative matrix LED headlights.

2012 BMW 650i Coupe Lighting sequence
http://www.eurocarnews.com - BMW Group - The new BMW 6 Series Coupe is
equipped with Adaptive Xenon headlights as standard. An accentuating trim
element cuts across the top of the hallmark BMW twin round headlights to
produce the purposeful look familiar from other BMW models. The optional
Adaptive LED Headlights provide a fresh take on this established feature.
The Adaptive LED Headlights for low beam and high beam contain LED light
rings for the parking lights and daytime running lights, which are
flattened on the lower edge and overlapped at their top edge by an accent
light -- also featuring LEDs. The result is a stunning, distinctively BMW
showcase for the innovative light technology. In addition, they also
generate the low beam and high beam light from the two light rings. The
light sources are horizontal LED ribs positioned in the center of the light
rings. The brand's hallmark twin round headlight look is therefore
expressed even more strikingly - not only with the daytime running lights
switched on, but also when the headlights are activated in the dark.
