In the last three decades the Volkswagen Jetta has carved out a niche as a
sporty compact sedan for buyers with premium tastes. The sixth generation
Jetta is larger but less expensive to produce than the previous version.
The result is a Jetta with fewer upscale touches but one that is better
able to compete price wise with the class leading Toyota Corolla and Honda

For years, and years, and years, the Jetta was marketed and considered as
an upscale compact sedan. For quite a while, it has been sought after as a
halfway step between the mainstream compact offerings and entry-level,
That means a sub-$20,000 Jetta hasn't been available for about 15 years,
unlike the Honda Civic, the Mazda3 and the Toyota Corolla, to name a few.
That is, besides the City Jetta that was exclusively sold in Canada from
2007 to 2009...
RoadflyTV - 2011 Volkswagen Jetta Road Test & Review
Roadfly tested the completely updated and redesigned 2011 Volkswagen Jetta
SEL. Major competitors for this German sport sedan include the Toyota
Corolla, Honda Civic, and Mazda3. When reviewing a car like the Jetta one
of the things we look for in the road test is how well the Jetta compares
to others in its class. The relatively inexpensive compact car segment is
crowded to say the least.
Host Emme Hall found the trunk to be plenty spacious, lots of leg room for
rear seated passengers and fun and confident driving characteristics.
Safety equipment includes six standard airbags; ABS; stability control; and
a new crash response system that unlocks the doors, shuts off the fuel
pump, and turns on the hazard lights in the event of an impact.

Ever since Mercedes-Benz introduced the CLS in 2005, other car makers have
rushed to a similarly stylish four-door coupe to their lineups. In the case
of Volkswagen the CC fits the bill, with a highly stylized exterior,
coupe-like silhouette and, of course, four doors.

The latest Volkswagen Jetta shares its looks with the larger Volkswagen
Passat, as VW tries to distance its compact saloon from the Golf that it
shares many of its components with.
The latest model has a longer wheelbase than the Volkswagen Golf, so
there's more cabin space, while the car looks smarter, thanks to a shorter
rear overhang for the saloon boot. As with the rest of the VW range, the
Jetta is built to a high standard from high quality materials. Engines
include the firm's 1.4 TSI petrol, plus 1.6 and 2.0-litre TDI diesels. The
1.6 TDI is also offered with VW's BlueMotion Technology pack, which saves
fuel by turning the engine off when the car is in neutral.

Volkswagen Jetta. The concept of German engineering might seem like a
simple marketing ploy but there is actually something to it. Driving
privileges for Germanys fabled autobahn arent limited to the fastest, most
expensive cars. Relatively inexpensive cars like the Volkswagen Jetta
travel the autobahn, too.
Welcome to our comprehensive Kelley Blue Book review of the Volkswagen
Unsurprisingly, the same engineering philosophy that makes the Volkswagen
Jetta suitable for the autobahn also makes it pretty darn fun to drive.
America car buyers have known this ever since the Jetta was introduced to
the US in 1980. Now in its fifth generation, the Jetta continues to offer
German style and handling at a price accessible to the common man.
