Replacing a ring gear
On a manual transmission flywheel, if the teeth are bad, you don't have to
replace the whole flywheel. The ring gear can be replaced by itself for a
lot less money. Here's how to do it.
A common problem with the replacement flywheel's on LLV's has been the ring
gear welded off center to the plate. If this happens the starter teeth
will most likely grind with the new flywheel. If you don't want to
replace the flywheel a second time, check it before you install it.

informs me the BIG one developes 125hp @ 250rpm.. Filmed and edited by
TORQUE = HP x 5252 ÷ RPM
Torque = (125 x 5252) / 250 = 2626 ft lbs or 3560Nm

Sadly the owner of this engine 'Vic' seen in the film passed away in

working place (York waterworks in 1997) I then installed it in one of my
buildings and returned it to running order but after suffering a mental
brake down mistakenly sold it to Vick. I bought it from his daughter before
it was put to auction to stop it from being sold overseas!! The engine is
going into a privet collection in Suffolk just up the road from where she
was built, which I think is where she belongs. Steve
