His extreme car stunt was very similar to a classic James Bond car caper from 1974's The Man With The Golden Gun. This is Chevy's third in a series of outrageous stunts for their new sub-compact Sonic.

During a recent test program in Barcelona, Spain we were able to sample the 2012 BMW 328i with the new TwinPower turbo 4-cylinder engine mated to the 8-speed Sport Automatic.
CHEVY SONIC GOES BUNGEE JUMPING
We're not sure why this was done, but Chevrolet literally "launched" its newest small car, the Sonic, by tying it to a bungee chord and rolling it off a ten-story structure at the Long Beach Convention Center. It is the first digital launch of a vehicle in Chevrolet's 100 year history. The Sonic's 1.4L turbo with the six-speed manual achieves an EPA highway fuel economy of 40 mpg.

► 2012 Chevy Sonic makes a bungee jump!
When Chevrolet decided to launch the all-new Sonic in the States, it seems they took the word 'launch' a little too seriously.
On the back of research that showed extreme sports to be highly popular within the car's 18-30 target customer range, the company decided to make quite an impact by throwing a car from the top of a ten storey tower in Long Beach, California.
Well, we say impact. But just before it plummeted to the ground, the all-new Aveo dipped its nose in a paddling pool and bounced back up in an incredible display of non-contact automotive bungee-jumping.
The stunt was performed as part of Chevrolet's 'Let's do this' marketing campaign in the USA.
The Bungee Jump is the second extreme sport in which the Aveo has participated. Last month, the car was launched more quickly than any car in history -- accelerating from 0-60mph in just 0.4 seconds as it was pushed out of an aeroplane, to perform its first freefall skydive.

Just two days after Rob Dyrdek "Kick Flipped" this very car at Magic Mountain California...one of the stuntmen involved in setting up the project, James "SKI" Smith, takes the car for a drive on two wheels through a busy Hollywood effects shop http://jemfx.com and then drops the car into a parking spot out front like it's no big deal.
The term "skiing" a car comes from the old thrill show days when stuntmen would drive a car on two wheels and the tire tracks left on the ground looked like ski tracks.
