Mit ihm haben die Amis auf der Air Base Lemoore in Californien 427 km/h geschafft und sich kurzerhand selbst zum Weltrekordhalter erklärt. Mit fast 428 km/h sind die Amis zwar etwa 3 km/h langsamer als der Bugatti, doch... ...der elektronische Begrenzer des Veyron verstößt gegen die Richtlinien der Guinness Kommission und Bugatti wurde der Titel aberkannt. Pech für Hennessey. Bei ihrer Rekordfahrt war die Guinness World Record Kommission nicht anwesend. Deswegen ist auch dieser Rekord nicht offiziell. Wer sich am Ende die Krone holt bleibt spannend.
