The latest Volkswagen Jetta shares its looks with the larger Volkswagen
Passat, as VW tries to distance its compact saloon from the Golf that it
shares many of its components with.
The latest model has a longer wheelbase than the Volkswagen Golf, so
there's more cabin space, while the car looks smarter, thanks to a shorter
rear overhang for the saloon boot. As with the rest of the VW range, the
Jetta is built to a high standard from high quality materials. Engines
include the firm's 1.4 TSI petrol, plus 1.6 and 2.0-litre TDI diesels. The
1.6 TDI is also offered with VW's BlueMotion Technology pack, which saves
fuel by turning the engine off when the car is in neutral.
2010 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Review, Walkaround, Exhaust, Test Drive
Apparently, Volkswagen was listening when driving enthusiasts asked for a
vehicle that could effectively blend high MPG numbers with a high fun
factor. If your primary driving consist mostly of highway drives, make sure
you check out any current Audi/Volkswagen product with their phenomenal TDI
motor. If you're commute consist primary of sitting in stop and go traffic,
a hybrid may suit you better.
2011 Volkswagen Jetta First Look from Consumer Reports
The Volkswagen Jetta has been totally redesigned with the hopes of
improving US sales. The Jetta is now roomier inside, but some of what made
the previous generation special seems to be lost.

2011 Volkswagen Jetta - The interior concept
http://www.eurocarnews.com - Volkswagen AG - The Jetta's interior with its
high-end quality creates a solid bridge to the class above, widening its
lead over the competition. Inside, the new Jetta offers unparalleled
perfection in details and -- as a common conceptual thread --
The silver framed round instruments designed in the style of the new Passat
are positioned for optimum viewing; the multifunction display (trip
computer) is located between them. The new three-spoke steering wheel
design (optional leather-trimmed steering wheel with multifunction keys)
impresses both visually and to the touch. The right hand rests
ergonomically on the gearshift grip. Further up the centre console are the
redesigned and intuitive controls for the climate control and the radio and
radio-navigation systems. This console section is slightly inclined towards
the driver for an ideal alignment of the dashboard that focuses on the
The parking brake lever was also repositioned, freeing up more space on the
right side that is now used for larger cupholders. Numerous storage options
- including an option-dependent centre armrest with large storage box and
special sunglasses holder - all perfect the car's everyday practicality.
More space for driver and front passenger
Despite the flatter roofline, the effective headroom for both driver and
front passenger was also increased to 1,014 mm. Both occupants take their
places on completely redesigned and ergonomically optimised seats that
offer a high level of long-distance travel comfort and ample adjustments
(optional 6-way and 8-way adjustment). The extended wheelbase, now 2,651
mm, enabled a significantly more comfortable layout of the Jetta's 3-person
rear seating area. Consider knee room: it is now a huge 1,046 mm. Headroom
in the rear, at 943 mm, is still on the same good level of the previous
510 litre cargo capacity
Even the base version sports a folding rear bench seatback with a 60/40
split, increasing the car's versatility. The 510 litre boot can be opened
from inside the car by a remote unlock switch (or by unlocking from the
exterior or by the standard wireless remote control). A load-through
provision integrated in the centre armrest (standard from Comfortline)
DRIVE- 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SEL
Buyers have always been willing to pay a premium for Volkwagen's Jetta
because of it's solid German feel. Now VW has substantially dropped the
MSRP of the new 2011 model putting it's price on par with Civic and
Corolla. Does it still have that great Teutonic feel? Tom Voelk travels to
the global press introduction in San Francisco to find out.
2011 Volkswagen Jetta SE 2.5L Start Up, Quick Tour, & Rev With Exhaust View - 2K
2011 Volkswagen Jetta Se
This has a 2.5L DOHC 5 Cyl making only 170 HP while paired to a 6 Speed
The exterior styling is very clean, somewhat sleek, but a bit conservative.
The Audi Influence is quite noticeable up front. The interior though, is
rather disappointing. While the layout is clean & it is roomy overall, the
Interior quality is quite poor. The Door Panels, dashboard, Center console,
& etc were all smothered with Hard Cheap plastics that are seriously hard
to the touch & non of those surfaces are pleasant to fell. The Leather
Seats were Ok & rear seat legroom & trunk-space was decent.
1 huge disappointment is with the 2.5L 5 Cyl engine. It is rather low in
horsepower & Toque
considering it's size. Theres smaller naturally aspirated engines out there
which deliver much better figures. Aside from that, this engine also
sounds very odd when revving & it actually sounds a bit rough on the high
end. I feel They could've used a turbo 2.0L 4 Cyl engine which is a much better
engine overall & is a brisk performer.
