1996 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0L V8 2WD Start Up, Full Tour, Exhaust View, & Test Drive - 197K
1996 was the was year for Explorer to be offered with a V8 option. A 5.0L V8 making only 210 HP but still making an impressive 280 ft-lbs. @ 3300 rpm so this old horse does provide lots of low end torque. A common misconception is the belief that the V8 Explorers of this generation were only available in AWD form but thats purely false! It's paired to a 4 speed auto BTW We purchased this Explorer in the spring of 2008 for $500. And since then the truck has been super reliable. Of course there were a few expected repairs that had to be done since ownership. Torque Converter $99, Camshaft Synchronize $45, Fuel pump $115, & a complete set of new ball joint $80. All the typical issues expected to hit 15+ year old car with almost 200K. But all these repairs were done in-house & not at a mechanic shop which is why cost of everything stayed low. Theres been moments where my dad thought about selling but when further thought is made, there really isn't much point in doing so. Its not often you can have a reliable mint condition up to snuff truck that cost almost nothing. It be hard to find another replacement in this case. Better off keeping it as the trusty beater spare truck to carry things & etc that you wouldn't use a nicer car with. In case you're not aware, all my tours (except personal cars) will be posted at 2theRedlineLLC from now on! http://www.youtube.com/user/2theRedlineLLC --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------- LINKS!! EPA: 14 City 19 HWY Trims: Sport, XL, XLT, Eddie Bauer, Limited Competitors: Honda Passport, Toyota 4Runner, Dodge Durango, Chevy Blazer, Nissan Pathfinder What I have to say about the 1998 Explorer: The Explorer used to be the ultimate family car back in the late 90's and early 00's right beside the midsize sedans the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. With about 400,000 being sold every year up until 2002 it had alot going for it. Why was it such a good seller? Well it was because it had great rugged looks and it's versatile interior and room for a family made it such a good seller. The ergonomics was really good too and the seats were nice and plush and the Explorer also had plenty of power on tap. There is also many different trim levels for any lifestyle ranging from the basic XL to a very luxurious Limited. All in all this sport-ute was one of the best SUVS ever made

1999 Ford Explorer Limited Edition 4x4 V6 Start Up, Quick Tour, & Rev With Exhaust View - 185K
1999 Ford Explorer Limited Edition 4x4 V6 This Explorer has the 4.0L SOHC V6 making only 210 HP while paired t a 5 speed auto. While the 5 Spd auto was a rather early attempt for Ford as they were the only American automaker back in 1997 to have a 5 spd auto, it was quite a problematic tranny. The V6 engines were also prone to engine noises as well. THe Most Solid Explorer is the V8 version through 1996-2001 which came with the tried & true 5.0L V8 from the old Mustang. While it had a 4 Spd auto instead, it was a very reliable transmission (4R70W ) which was the same model used in Crown Victoria, Lincoln Town Cars, 4.6L Expeditions, 4.6L F-150 & etc.... And if one ever want to modify the engine, one can do so with the endless supply of Mustang Accessories.

2013 Chevy Equinox v Ford Explorer v Jeep Grand Cherokee Off-Road Mashup AWD Tech Review
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The brand new 2013 Chevrolet Equinox and the Ford Explorer and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Overland don't have a lot in common. However all three of these vehicle have a very different approach to powering all four wheels, in other words, they all have one form or another of all-wheel-drive and terrain management technology. We thought it would be interesting, informative and fun to try these three very different AWD vehicles off-road in a real world test to see which one can best handle our Colorado Mountain off-road terrain. In this battle of 4X4 people haulers we take all three vehicles up our standard rugged Colorado trail to see which one can make it all the way to the top. Check out another fun and real world TFLcar Mashup test as we get wet, muddy and rocky in this off-road AWD technology comparison and review.

Real Videos: 2013 Ford Explorer Sport Detailed Review
Thanks for joining us for another Real Video, the Real Review this time featuring the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport. The Sport crowns the top of the Ford Explorer model line up for 2013. Your eyes are not playing tricks on you, the Sport designation returns as new for 2013 and it has the "in" look of gloss black accents all around the vehicle. The only shiny chrome bits are the door handles and some window trim. Then there are the 20" machined wheels with black painted inserts. We covered the Real First Impressions (http://youtu.be/pLdH8Y1vrPk) early this year and thought this vehicle gives quite the aggressive look to the Explorer family.
