The New TL: 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD
CHECK OUT THE NEW ACURA TL:
As we hammer the 2009 Acura TL down some of Malibu's most challenging
canyon roads, the big sedan is handling itself well. It carries enough
speed through the corners to make us a little nervous, but the lack of tire
squeal makes it clear that we're far from pushing its limits.
Jamming this TL into a hairpin doesn't upset it either. The brakes scrub
off plenty of speed and the transmission executes perfect, rev-matched
downshifts. When we flat foot the throttle on the way out, the newly
optional Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system puts down all 305
horsepower of the
3.7-liter V6 to the pavement without a single chirp of the tires.
When we finally hit leisurely traffic on Pacific Coast Highway, the TL
returns to luxury sedan mode. The cabin goes silent, the transmission
smoothly sifts through the gears and the suspension soaks up everything
short of a sinkhole. We're not surprised, as this is the classic Acura
formula — admirable performance coupled with high-tech luxury, and now
the TL has a little more of both.

Acura TL review from Consumer Reports
The TL is a nice upscale sedan but since its 2009 redesign, it no longer
stands out from the crowd. For 2012, the styling is slightly tweaked and
the transmission got another gear.

we think most buyers will appreciate the improved interior space, comfort
and advanced technology of the latest generation. To meet the varying needs
of customers, the TL is offered in two flavors, a front-wheel-drive base
model and a sportier all-wheel-drive model. The BMW 3 Series and
Mercedes-Benz C-Class still dominate the class, but compelling content and
good value may encourage customers to give the Acura TL a second look. For

2012 Acura TL SH-AWD Test Drive & Luxury Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/acura/tl/2012/ The 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD is not
your normal everyday luxury sedan. This car features a 305 horsepower V-6 engine,
6-speed manual transmission, and Super Handling-All Wheel Drive. The TL
falls right in the middle of Acura's luxury car line-up and offers the
perfect blend of performance and luxury plus it looks so sexy. The base
price for the 2012 Acura TL is $35,705 with the top of the line model
starting at $45,185.
The 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD is powered by a 3.7 liter V-6 engine featuring
VTEC and a high flow Exhaust system.
This engine makes 305 horsepower and 273 lb-ft. of
torque. Fuel economy is 18 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway with
the automatic transmission. The entry level models get a 3.5 liter V-6
engine that puts out 280 horsepower and 254 lb-ft. of
torque. Besides being less expensive, this engine gets much better gas
mileage at 20 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway.
The interior of the 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD is quite comfortable. The seats
produced by Acura may just be the best in the business. The driver seat is
10-way adjustable while the passenger is an 8-way adjustable unit. Both
front seats are heated and you can opt for the Advance Package which adds
cooling. The rear seats are spacious and can comfortably accommodate 3
passengers. Other interior features are the dual-mode climate control,
Bluetooth, Push-Button Start, optional ELS Stereo Surround System, and
Navigation just to name a few.
The Acura TL is one of the IIHS Top Safety Picks for 2012 and with good
reason. The TL benefits from ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution, and Brake
Assist. The Vehicle Stability Assist works to keep the vehicle on the road
at all times. A wonderful six-airbag system helps to decrease crash
severity for the occupants.
The 6-speed manual gearbox paired with the SH-AWD system results in a
competent performance car. With the 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD you are getting
the best of both worlds!

Due in large part to over-reaching styling the latest generation TL
received a tepid welcome when it launched in 2009. In an effort to keep it
competitive Acura remade the TL via a mid-cycle refresh, tweaking its
exterior and updating its powertrain. The result is a more efficient luxury
sedan that's easier on the eyes.
