Best Tips for Breaking in a New Camshaft
http://www.horsepowermonster.com -- The
first few minutes of operation will determine the long-term survival of
your flat-tappet camshaft. More agressive lobe designs, stronger
valvesprings and changes to the additives in modern motor oils makes a
"wiped" cam lobe much more likely than in the days of classic muscle cars.
These are a few very important tips for properly breaking in your high
performance flat tappet camshaft.

BMW DIAGNOSTIC CODES
A built-in BMW, self diagnostic code gives the benefit of troubleshooting a
failure car component, the method to retrieve the faulty codes after Check
Engine light turns on. This method helps car lovers to pin point the
problem and replace the defecting component quickly and cost effectively.
It works on models that have same instruments and LED's layout.

N52K N54. Procedure shown using a BMW X3 with N52. The VANOS solenoids can
often cause rough running. This can occur with no fault codes and is
usually felt at idle when selecting reverse or drive. They can also set a
check engine light with various fault codes. P2A9A Camshaft sensor inlet
signal signal invalid for synchronization. P2A98 Crankshaft inlet camshaft
correlation value outside reference range. 2A82 Vanos intake stiff jammed
mechanically.2A9B Camshaft sensor Exhaust signal invalid for syncronization. 2A99

BMW E39 M5 S62 Camshaft Position Sensors - VANOS, Replacement Information
Information regarding camshaft position sensors found on BMW's S62 V8, used
in the E39 M5 and E52 Z8. There are two intake sensors, and two Exhaust sensors, on in and one out on each
cylinder bank. The sensors wear over time, and may malfunction. The car
can either throw CPS (camshaft position sensor) codes, or VANOS (variable
valve timing) codes, or both, since they reference each other.
I had a few codes form my Peake Research tool:
08 - Intake camshaft position sensor, Cly #5-8 (Bank 2)
B8 - Intake camshaft VANOS position control, Cyl #1-4 (Bank 1)
71 - Intake camshaft VANOS position control, Cyl #5-8 (Bank 2)
Replacing both intake camshaft position sensors fixed my problem. I used
OES (Original equipment supplier) parts from AB Electronic in Germany. The
part number for an intake sensor from them is: VNE 9451910
