Overhaulin volkswagen beetle 1965

Engine Blow 2008
Airkooled Kustoms sponsored an engine blow at the 2008 North Alabama Volkswagen Club's Bug'n in July car show. The engine was a junked aircooled Volkswagen Beetle motor that sat seized in someone's backyard for the last 5 years. We took it apart, slapped some used parts from another junk motor in it, filled it with oil and gas and then rigged it to run at wide-open throttle until it died. I finally got around to shooting some real-time video as the cars sits today. As you can tell there are many videos between the youtube footage and now, I will try and hasten their delivery. The white floppy things late in the vid are a couple of Tie-Wraps subbing for windshield wipers. Going fast sure creates a lot of wind noise.

Rebuilding a dual relief twin port 1600 Volkswagen motor. In this video I'm assembling the bottom end crank shaft, cam shaft, lifters and distributor drive. Finishes up with fitting the fly wheel shims and flywheel.
