Corowa Autofest 2010 - 1000hp Torana splits balancer on the dyno
This Torana is a pretty mean bit of gear, with a Vortech YSi hanging off the side of a 434cube small block chev. It was looking promising to spin up some huge numbers on the Dyno when the balancer split. Although there was some concern the crank might have snapped the snout off, it was later confirmed that it was just the balancer that broke.
Twin Turbo LS1-Powered HK Monaro on Dyno
Rodney Ritchie used to run a serious procharger blow-through set-up on his
HG Monaro but he's ripped that out and fitted a 406ci LS1 with twin T04Z turbos. It doesn't run alot of Boost but it sure makes enough power. It won
the Dyno at Winton's
Performance Car Mania with 731rwhp. Rodney now plans to finish things off
with an Intercooler and pump
up the Boost for even more power,
and possibly have a crack at Modified Street Blown in the APSA series.
2000hp Torana Wins Horsepower Heroes
Jake Edwards goes back to back at Summernats 26 with another win in horsepower Heroes with
1666rwhp (and equates to over 2000hp at the flywheel). The car runs a 496ci
big block with a massive 106mm Garrett turbo with EFI and methanol. It has run 7.88 at
179mph on the quarter, so it's not just a Dyno queen.
Check out how much Exhaust energy it
produces at the end of the video where it blew my second camera over even
though it was at least 8 feet away.
World's Biggest Burnout Fire!
Justen Brown absolutely torches his Holden ute at Mallanats with one of the
biggest fire shows we've seen.
And then he came out in the finals and do it all again.
Torana Powerskids at Performance Car Mania 2010
There was a great variety of rides at Winton's Performance Car Mania but
there's no denying a strong Torana presence at the event. Just check out
how many were smoking it up in the powerskids!
Perry Bullivant, with the dark green Torana and black bonnet, won the
Powerskids after a stout effort on sunday.
SUBTLE Twin Turbo Torana Run Sixes
When we first saw SUBTLE it was wearing two high mount turbos on a small block Chev. It was plenty fast
but the owner Jeremy Callaghan wanted more. So now the turbos are mounted lower and there a Dandy Engines
built 622ci big block up front. Oh yeah - it's fast.
Two Superchargers, No Waiting for smoke!!
I used to think this car was called 24TUFF for some reason, and with 2
blowers I guess that works as well, but it's actually T4TUFF and it is
Tough with a capital T. Matt Power is the pilot of the flame throwing smoke
monster, and even though it was a killer burnout Matt finished 13th
overall, that's how tough the competition was.
PANNIC - A very fast VL Turbo
No doubt you've seen the VL turbo crash,
well this ISN'T the same car.
For my American viewers the VL Commodore turbo runs a 3-litre straight six with a single turbo and EFI. As standard they were
reasonably fast (think Buick GN) but with some mods these cars are
blisteringly fast. Check out the low MPH attached to the low 9sec quarter
mile time. This car has much more in it.
R.I.P. INOCNT Torana
Simon Kryger's INOCNT Torana has been a solid Pro Street performer at
Sydney Dragway and other tracks for many years. Simon sold the car just
last footage was shot and two weeks later the car was destroyed in a
traffic accident when it was stuck from behind at high speed by another
vehicle. Unfortunately the iconic Torana was destroyed, but the driver
wasn't seriously injurred. Rest in Peace INOCNT.

make no claims to ownership of them):
Corowa Autofest 2010
Here's an idea of what Corowa Autofest was like with Benny giving us a
quick run down.
Final figures were 169 entrants and a whopping 13,000 spectators, despite
the rain on Saturday.
There will be a two day drag event and show 'n' shine held over the ANZAC
day weekend, but racing doesn't start until late on Sunday so you can still
go pay your respects.
Summernats23 - CMEFRY goes up in flames
Can you imagine a more Apt numberplate for this car? CMEFRY (See Me Fry)
goes up in flames at the end of a massive smokefest. Grab the next issue of
Street Machine magazine to see some amazing pictures by Adam Morrissey from
Corowa Autofest - V8 Drag Final
In the V8 Finals at Autofest it was Mick brody up against Matt Filipenko,
both cars are LJ Torana's but Brody's car had the cubic inch advantage with
440 cubes. Matt attempted to close the gap with a 150hp shot of Nitrous on his 383.
It was a close run but the timers didn't work and Brody took the win by
crossing the line first.
BEST. POWERSKID. EVER.
I've seen some crazy powerskid action in my time but this Torana takes the
cake. With a big hit of Nitrous and a
heavy right foot this guy smokes the full length of the track in and aesome
display of skill and power.
If you've got a better powerskid then send me a video response.
Jake Edwards, turbocharged Torana
Jake's single turbo Torana is legendary
in Australia. His ability to crank out big horsepower numbers from
relatively simple combinations defies belief. It's an awesome sounding car
Not sure of the specs when this video was shot because he's had several
motors, but it's a Holden V8 between 308 and 393ci with a large Holset
