WOW! Jeep did an outstanding job on this new Grand Cherokee. It's just the thing people want in an SUV...power, off-road ability, and comfort all in one. The newly-designed Grand Cherokee features a 3.6L 280hp V6 engine that is to be more refine and get better fuel economy than the 3.7L currently in the SUV. Don't worry, the 5.7L HEMI will still be avaiable.
The new Grand Cherokee features leather wrapped steering wheel, shift knob, seats, and even dash board...IN A JEEP!!! The steering wheel and seats are also heated and cooled.
Now for the cool part! The 2011 Grand Cherokee features a new Quadra-Lift Air Suspension system. This allows the driver to pick between 5 different ride heights:
Park Mode: -1.5in. from the normal ride height to make it easier for people to get in.
Aero Mode: -.6in from the normal ride height for improved fuel economy
Normal Ride Height: 8.1in of ground clearence
Off-Road 1: +1.5in from normal ride height. Added height to tear throught snow, mud, etc...
Off-Road2: +3in from normal ride height=11.1in of ground clearence (Best-In-Class) for crawling over rocks and such.
Jeep says this model will be in dealer showrooms by the Spring/Summer of 2010. They also said pricing has not yet been released;)

ItaliaspeedTV - Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 2010 (II)
As the first four-wheel-drive SRT vehicle, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 (2010)
is the quickest, most powerful Jeep vehicle ever, offering astonishing
on-road and all-weather capability and power. The specially developed
four-wheel-drive system propels Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 from 0-60 mph in
less than 5 seconds—quicker than the Porsche Cayenne turbo and BMW X5—0-100-0 in low 19-second range
and 60-0 mph in approximately 125 feet. Powered by a 6.1-liter HEMI® V-8
that produces 420 horsepower (313 kW) and 420
lb.-ft. of torque (569 Nm), the 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 delivers the
complete performance package with exceptional ride and handling,
world-class braking, race-inspired interior appointments and functional,
performance-oriented exterior enhancements. For example, the front fascia
provides aerodynamic benefits by reducing lift and drag, while providing
sufficient air flow to cool the 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 engine. The front fascia
also helps increase brake-system cooling through integrated air ducts. The
rear fascia incorporates an aggressive center cut-out in order to
accommodate dual 4-inch Exhaust tips.
Sill extensions result in another functional enhancement by creating
downforce. Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8s cabin features an SRT signature
race-inspired interior. Seats with added bolstering and a performance
fabric insert keep occupants firmly in place under spirited driving
conditions. A dark slate gray interior color, accent stitching on the seats
and a unique SRT-designed leather-wrapped steering wheel are some of the
highlights. Full instrumentation includes a 180-mph (300-kph) speedometer,
tachometer and temperature gauges, all trimmed with a unique blue accent.
Providing horsepower and torque to the
unique SRT four-wheel-drive system is a specially tuned version of the HEMI
engine, which was developed by adding more displacement, increasing the
compression ratio and redesigning cylinder heads, intake and Exhaust systems for better flow and increased
engine speed. Power from the 6.1-liter HEMI is sent through a special
torque converter to an SRT-upgraded, five-speed automatic transmission with
specially calibrated driver-selectable Auto Stick, which offers a fully
automatic or manual shift selection.

Gotta love that 6-speed! Jeep stays true to its heritage, providing people
with a go anywhere do anything vehicle that's fun to drive too. Put the
top down, take the doors off and pop it into 4WD to have the ultimate fun!
I'm looking to buy on in July (hopefully) and put some Flowmasters on it to
give that 3.8L V6 a little rumble. 2 words...Jeeps Rule!!!

MORE 2009 NYAS @ INSIDELINE.COM:
The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a good reminder of what Chrysler can do
when it sticks to what it knows best. There is nothing revolutionary about
this redesigned SUV, because it's still a midsize utility vehicle with two
rows of seats, two available engines and real off-road capability. It's a
formula that has worked for almost two decades now, so when it came time to
do it all over again, the Jeep engineers just added more of the same.
Built on an all-new chassis shared with the Mercedes ML, this Grand
Cherokee has been stretched out to open up more passenger room, mostly in
the second row. It's 3 inches wider than before and rides on a wheelbase
that's 5.3 inches longer.
The result is an additional 4 inches of rear knee- and legroom, according
to Jeep. The second-row seats also recline, while the front passenger seat
can be folded flat on base models. Cargo room is up 6.8 cubic feet to a
maximum of 36.3 cubic feet behind the second row. There is still no
third-row option (for which we're grateful).
Moving to a new chassis also allowed Jeep's engineers to switch to a fully
independent suspension for improved ride quality and greater adjustability.
An optional Quadra-lift air suspension can vary the ride height from 4.5
inches of ground clearance at its lowest setting to just over 11 inches at
its highest. There's also a new driver-adjustable Selec-Terrain system that
optimizes the vehicle's settings for snow, mud, pavement, etc.
There are three four-wheel-drive systems: Quadra-Trac 1, Quadra-Trac II and
Quadra-Drive. Quadra-Trac I is a basic full-time system with a single-speed
transfer case. Quadra-Trac II adds a dual-range case, while Quadra-Drive
goes a step further with an electronic limited-slip differential in the
rear. Only Grand Cherokees with two-speed cases are "Trail Rated" by Jeep
for serious off-roading. A two-wheel-drive model will also be available.
Under the hood, the Grand Cherokee gets an all-new 3.6-liter V6 as its base
engine. This is the first application of this new dual-overhead-cam engine
and it's fitted to a five-speed automatic transmission. Although output is
up to 280 horsepower and 260
pound-feet of torque, Jeep says efficiency is also up by 11 percent.
As with the current Grand Cherokee, there's an optional 5.7-liter Hemi V8
that delivers 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a five-speed
automatic as well and Boosts the
Grand Cherokee's maximum tow rating to 7,400 pounds for two-wheel-drive
This Grand Cherokee is the second vehicle to benefit from Chrysler's
renewed focus on interior quality and design (the latest Ram being the
first). All models get soft-touch materials and real wood detailing, while
the upper trim levels add features like a heated steering wheel, ventilated
seats and leather-upholstered door panels.
The options list includes just about every technological innovation on the
market. There's hill descent control, trailer sway mitigation, blind spot
detection and standard stability control. Adaptive cruise control and a
Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system are available as well. Convenience
features range from remote start to a USB port and Bluetooth connectivity.
