Karmann-Ghia anniversary 50 years 1955-2005
On the 14th of July 1955 the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia was presented to the public. Members of the media and business were invited to the Kasino in Georgsmarienhütte, which is close to the Karmann factory in Osnabrück. 50 years on, Karmann Ghia friends around the world are invited to take part in these jubilee celebrations at the historical location, invited by the big Karmann Ghia clubs of Germany with the support of numerous sponsors and helpers. Georgsmarienhütte is situated a few kilometres south of Osnabrück in northern Germany. This is a short private movie of me as participant - it is not the official video off the anniversary.

1972 VW Karmann Ghia
1972 Karmann Ghia Convertible. Great little California car, same owner for the last 8 years. Solid, straight body and very comfortable interior. Car appears to have had a couple of color changes, it was originally yellow. The body is very nice with very little filler and no rust. The passenger floor shows some rust and will need to be replaced eventually if the car is to be driven in the weather. Otherwise, drivers side is fine. The black cloth top is in nice condition as is the rear glass window. The interior is also pretty nice though the door panels are warped. The car starts and runs well. It shifts nicely and drives straight. The brakes are responsive and the suspension functions properly with good handling. Car shows 6K miles, the actual miles are unknown. Owning a classic VW is a great feeling! You'll get thumbs-up every where you go, and you'll soon realize these cars have a personality all their own. If you've ever considered buying a Ghia, or if you've had a classic VW in the past and want to rekindle that joyous, nostalgic feeling that can only come from a classic Volkswagen, then this is the car for you. Not to mention the extremely low cost of ownership, great gas mileage and the fact that these cars are only appreciating in value. Karmann Ghia Cabrio
Een Italiaanse look en Duitse techniek versmelten met elkaar in de Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. Stijl en elegantie gecombineerd met betrouwbare techniek . Ook Patrick viel voor de lijnvoering van de Karmann Ghia en mag zich nu jaren later eigenaar noemen van een imposante collectie auto's en miniaturen. Verzamelaar en onderzoeker noemt hij zichzelf en als ware kenner van het model een wandelende encyclopedie. In de jaren vijftig was de Karmann Ghia een imagebuilder voor Volkswagen. Naast de Kever en de spijlbus lanceerden VW een elegante sportcoupe en in 1958 voor het eerst een cabriolet op basis van dit model. Door de chassisconstructie was het voor individuele carrosseriebouwers ook mogelijk om op basis hiervan een eigen carrosserie te maken. Als echte verzamelaar heeft Patrick zich dan ook gefocust op de eerste "lowights" en de speciale uitvoeringen. Zijn collectie auto's van bijzondere Ghia's, wordt aangevuld met een indrukwekkende verzameling miniaturen en andere model gerelateerde verzamelobjecten. Hier is geen twijfel mogelijk, dit is een echte liefhebber die zich volledig verdiept heeft in dit model! Lekker toeren en uitwaaien met de 58-er Lowlight Cabriolet. Vol met accessoires en kenmerkende stijlelementen van de eerste serie Karmann Ghia's. De koplampen net iets lager dan de latere versies geven hem de bijnaam Lowlight. In grote lijnen hetzelfde als zijn opvolgers, maar toch net op alle punten even iets anders en heel verfijnd. Kenmerkende details welke verraden dat een dergelijke auto nog handgebouwd is bij een carrosseriebouwer. Patrick rijd graag in de auto waar hij een heuse jacht op heeft gemaakt om hem in bezit te krijgen. Juist deze uitvoering en voorzien van een originele Okrasa opvoerset maken het een begerenswaardige auto voor een verzamelaar als Patrick. Het gevoel , de passie, ruimte en de wind door de haren geven direct contact met de omgeving. Dak open en uitwaaien maar! Wind en uitwaaien zijn zeker toepasselijk als je hoort hoe deze, van oorsprong nieuw in Amerika geleverde VW naar Nederland is gekomen. Een lange reis waarbij de auto een orkaan heeft getrotseerd. Eenmaal gearriveerd in Nederland wachtte deze cabriolet een warm welkom in de collectie van Patrick. Voor veel liefhebbers van mooi design en de betrouwbare Volkswagen techniek heeft de Karmann Ghia een speciale betekenis. My 1974 Karmann Ghia
This is my 1974 Ghia. It was a hunk of junk when I first purchased it. Five years later after taking it compleatly apart it's now my favorite toy. 87mm pistons too. The gauges on the dash are VDO, but I purchased three "BUS" fuel gauges from junkyards. I removed the chromes rings and installed them on the new VDOs. Now they match the originals on the dash.

Excellent trim and chrome with lots of new rubber, crisp, clear windshield, excellent tires and brakes. Engine in excellent condition, rebuilt less than 10k miles ago with dual carburetors and runs like a champ. Shifting is tight and smooth as well. The interior still has some original patina'd areas like the original square weave rugs, giving it a nice vintage feel. Otherwise the front seats and panels have been replaced along with the headliner and newer cloth top and boot cover. The floors and rockers are super solid. Everything is in great working order. We are currently replacing the fuel sender so that will be completed at time of shipping. Important to note that 1967 is a low production year making it pretty rare since only 4,100 were built.
