Karmann-Ghia anniversary 50 years 1955-2005
On the 14th of July 1955 the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia was presented to the public. Members of the media and business were invited to the Kasino in Georgsmarienhütte, which is close to the Karmann factory in Osnabrück.
50 years on, Karmann Ghia friends around the world are invited to take part in these jubilee celebrations at the historical location, invited by the big Karmann Ghia clubs of Germany with the support of numerous sponsors and helpers. Georgsmarienhütte is situated a few kilometres south of Osnabrück in northern Germany.
This is a short private movie of me as participant - it is not the official video off the anniversary.
Driving my Karmann Ghia
The 1956 Karmann Ghia I own does get driven from time to time. I have friends who claim I 'never' drive it. This video shows that isn't the case.
1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Engine Start
First time starting up the 2333 cc engine (91x84mm) that I installed in my wife's freshly restored 1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible. Yes, I know my coil is installed upside-down. The after-market wire harness was installed with too little slack to reach a downward-pointing coil. This is temporary.
1973 VW Thing for sale
Great looking VW Thing! California car, originally from the Southern California desert. Super solid and rust free body. No signs of bondo or rust. This VW Thing under went a recent, nice quality cosmetic restoration. The paint is fresh and looks terrific! The interior was also redone and looks fantastic. The Thing also has a nice, new top. The attention to detail is obvious. Bumpers, glass and rubber all look very nice. In addition, it starts; runs and drives very nicely with good compression (115-115-110-115); new Exhaust system, wheels, tires and more. The original gas heater is installed but not connected. Our local VW shop has gone through the car thoroughly to assure it's reliable, safe and ready for you to enjoy!
Feel free to call Donn at 707-332-8331 any time. The car is available for inspection in Sonoma, California.
